Happy thought for the day: NO WEIGHT GAIN MORNING AFTER DINNER PARTY!!

I did well at the dinner party. I think this is the first time I have ever come home from a party with NO weight gain!!! It’s a major achievement for me! Usually I gain weight just walking by and looking at a buffet table.

My plan of action worked well. I increased my exercise that morning to 60 minutes to help with the extra calories I might eat that evening. I watched what I ate that morning and afternoon. I made sure to get my afternoon snack in and moved it a little later than normal so that I would not feel hungry when I got to the party. I also drank a V8 juice prior to leaving the house. I felt in control the whole party. My trick of not drinking my wine very fast and letting it sit worked out well too...obviously I was not one of the ones that were feeling the effects of having drank too much. I think as long as I am careful today and don't take this "day of grace" for granted I can keep it off and maybe lose more this week.

Our hostess had appetizer’s and my intention was to ignore them and just have the champagne and dinner. However, the party started at 6pm and in the past her dinner’s were always served about 6:30 or 7:00 pm so I thought I could wait for supper. Time kept creeping by and soon it was 7:30 and 7:45 so I had some appetizer’s while waiting for supper. Hostess apologized that dinner had taken longer than she expected to cook and we ate supper at 8:30 pm. We were suppose to play a card game after supper but some of the other guests had too much to drink while waiting for supper and the card game was not going well and they were also feeling like they couldn’t stay awake. Hubby and I were fine. I just didn’t drink my champagne very fast so that each time the others had empty glasses and our hostess was “re-filling” them, mine was still more than half full... so that worked out well. Good planning on my part! Im feeling rather proud of myself today because the plan of action and thinking ahead paid off on the scale this morning.

Happy Thought for the day: It's still early so there is lots that could be happier about today. Looks like a white Christmas this morning! Hubby had to shovel the walks, not deep enough to use the snow blower. I wanted to do it myself for my "different exercerise" for this weeks challenge but he insisted on doing it himself. I've done it before and it is a good workout for sure. When my youngest daughter arrives for Christmas we will do Yoga...she does yoga every day so I'll do it along with her.

I walked for an hour on the treadmill this morning because we are going to a dinner party tonight. This hostess usually has some fairly decent food choices but I just never know and she loves to drink champagne and have me drink along with her. Why do drinker's feel like they need someone else drinking with them?? My intention is to try to ignore my champagne glass as much as I can so that it can't be refilled as often..."Oh I forgot I had that there"!! It is also hard to count how many glasses you have drank when they keep refilling your glass when its only half empty. So the extra time on the treadmill seemed to take forever! I had to keep telling myself that I had the time to do it, no excuse not to do it.

I am going to have a busy weekend. I HAVE to get my cards done and ready for mailing Monday. We create our own cards on the computer and everyone seems to like them. I was going to send store bought this year and then people started making comments about how they love the "personal touch" of my cards...soooo Im making cards this weekend.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Happy thought for today: I have a weight loss this week but... yesterday I weighed 150.8 and today I weighed 151.8... I was really expecting to be able to show that extra pound lost... my weight has really been fluctuations strangely lately. I can weigh less at night than I will in the morning and that has never happened to me ever...until the last couple months. My weight is just behaving strangley but .. it is a loss for this week so I am happy. I really want to see a one pound weight loss each and every week!!! If one week skips and I lose 2 the following week...that's ok...but one pound for each week is my goal.

I took the time to go to the assisted living home and visit with my BF's mother in law that lives there. I love history and she is full of historical stories about this town and how life use to be here. I love talking to her and didn't realize I had spent almost 2 hours there!! She gave me a little christmas tree shaped/crocheted trivet she had made...so I brought my little holiday treasure home with me.

Hubby took me out for breakfast. We bought a wonderful little waffle maker at Costco, so that Christmas morning I will have batter ready and everyone can cook their own waffle for breakfast. Hubby thinks I need to "try it out" tomorrow morning for him.

Happy Thought of the Day: I woke up with a headache and so I turned off the alarm and stayed in bed. I didn't actually sleep but kept my eyes closed trying to see if the headache would go away! the phone rang and it was BF calling so I got up and talked to her for a while. Then the happy part... I don't know if it is because I weighed in later in the morning than usual or what...but I lost weight this morning. I lost enough to put me back pre-thanksgving gain, which has been holding on tight until this morning. Headache is much better now, weight is still down but I want to wait and weigh again in the morning at regular time to assure myself it is REAL!

I have been increasing my exercise to 45 min a day instead of the old 30 min a day, so maybe that was the magic trick that worked... really not magic at all is it.

I bought some new gold bead garland that was gorgeous and wrapped it around the evergreen garland I have up in the great room and it looks so much more festive and beautiful! It's Christmas time in our house now! I got a brand new wreath for the front door that is so enourmous we had to "bend" it into more of an oval shape in order for it to not to get in the way of the door opening and closing...but its gorgeous too!! Our old wreath was almost 20 yrs old. It was special, but lived a full life and is now in retirement at St. Vincent's De Paul's thrift store window.

Im feeling good today about my new exercise program and hope that I can lose one pound per week so that by the time we go to Mexico in April I could be ...under...140 lbs!! I could see 139 lbs if I lose one pound a week. So that is what I am trying for but would be happy to get to the 140's again. I was there once for a short time. I will NOT gain back weight this time!!!

Happy Holidays everyone. Here is a song I started singing a few years ago when ImLuuvd and I were going Christmas shopping: I can't remember exactly how I sang it or the EXACT words but I think this was it... maybe she remembers.

Shopping in a Winter Wonderland
(sing to the tune of walking in a winter wonderland)

let the snow keep on falling
at the mall, sales are calling
We’ll shop the whole day
and spend all our pay
shopping in a winter wonderland

In the parking lot we’ll build a snowman
we’ll pretend that he’s that sales clerk clown
We’ll have lots of fun with Mr. Sales clerk
until the other shopper’s knock him down

Later on We’ll conspire
as we shop at Fred Meyer
to face unafraid,
the bills that we made
shopping in a winter wonderland

Happy thought for today: I had every intention this morning of going out to lunch today at my favorite little café and indulging in a decadent dessert that I would share with my husband. However, I got held up with some desk work and chores and it was getting a little past our usual lunch time, when hubby came in and told me we had run some errands and go to the next town over where they have a Wal-mart store. So since it would have been impossible to make it to Wal-mart, shop and get back at a decent time to indulge in my café experience, we ended up eating lunch at the Subway that is inside the Wal-mart store. I had the roast chicken spinach salad with vinegar and it was wonderful, fresh, tasty and kept me completely on track with my real desire to lose weight this week. It was “Kismet” I tell ya!! It was some divine intervention on my behalf to save me from that little café with its decadent desserts. So it ended up being a PERFECT day!

We also arrived home after it had just turned dark and our neighbors holiday displays and our own were all on and shining brightly welcoming us back home. There was even a message on the phone from my youngest daughter waiting for me. Perfect day I tell ya!!
