This is an odd day for us. I played golf yesterday, and it was hot (read: HOT) at almost 100 degrees. But I kept myself hydrated by drinking about 100 oz of water while on the golf course and about 30 oz prior playing. This AM came early since my wife had to be at a surgery center early to have the 1st of 2 cataracts repaired. All went well, and afterwards we went to a local Mom & Pop restaurant for breakfast. I probably had my days fill of calories at breakfast, but had a light lunch and will have a light dinner. BTW, my omelet was really delicious. I feel for my wife, since even though she is an RN, she was concerned about the surgery. I've been supportive, and know generally what she is going through since I had cataract surgery in 1995 and in 2001. As a commercial for being properly prepared when being outside in the sun for extended periods, I am thoroughly convinced that my cataracts and also subsequent basel cell & squamous cell skin cancer are from the many years of my pleasure & competitive golf, beach time, and time spent on a boat growing up. Of course, when I was growing up, really good sun screen products had not been invented. Thankfully, my cataracts were repaired, and my arms, head, and face are checked & sprayed periodically. As a point of reference, I was 47 when I had my 1st cataract surgery. Also, I've had 2 minor surgeries on my neck & a "burn & scrape" procedure to my arm to mitigate the skin cancer. In any event, please, PLEASE wear adequate sunscreen and sunglasses when out in the sun. It will make life much more enjoyable in later years. That's my sermon for the day with a hearty nod of agreement from my wife. :) Everyone have a wonderful week. God is good !!
