Logged food for a few days and poked my head out to the forum. Not sure if it does me much good. Why is it the argument always turns to low-fat vs. low-carb? How about just eating good, real food in moderate portions?

Looking back, I have never, ever, been more than 20 lbs. over my "preferred weight" (meaning wearing size 2s with wriggle room) and was never told by any healthcare professionals to go on a diet. Aside from genes (thanks mom!), could it be because of the kind of food I have around? Even when I eat too much, I almost always have real food - organic cheeses, pasture butter, breads and cakes and cookies made from scratch using organic flour, pasture eggs, butter, and cream, and organic sugar, etc.

Just as not all fats are bad, not all carbs are bad. There is a huge difference between hydrogenated cottonseed oil and the fat from a wild-caught salmon. There is also a difference between the carbs from a sugar doughnut and an organic apple. Unfortunately people seems to like over-simplifying things and ended up putting themselves in boxes.

Maybe is time to go back into hiding, at least for awhile.
