Queue "Eye of the Tiger" please...
I had a 'Rocky' moment today when I made it to the top of 15 flights of stairs here at work...only instead of throwing my arms up n triumph like Sylvester Stallone..I hung over the bannister panting, heaving, gasping and dripping big fat droplets of sweat on the stairs below.
My goal is to do the steps 3 times a week (15 flights) to try to get my heart rate up...and work on shaping up my glutes and shins. My original intent was to do five flights then take a 1 minute breather...then five more and another breather...then do the last five and burst triumphantly through the door.
I did five and then rested...but the planned 1 minute rest was more like 2... then I did 2 more flights before I had to stop again. Then another 2... and so it went until I stumbled up to the 17th floor...totally wiped out and very very winded. I sat down on the top step to catch my breath...then stumbled through the door and into my office where I flopped in the chair and continued the panting for 2 - 3 more minutes.
BUT - I am so proud of me! I'll be even prouder if I do it again on Friday - as planned - instead of coming up with 100 excuses not to (as is my normal behaviour).
This first trip up took me 9:45...I plan to work on it so that by the end of the year I can do it in 6:00.

Henry brought in BBQ Chicken and Ribs - enough for the whole office...
I'm sitting here with a fruit salad and Turkey Meatloaf...
I can hear lips smacking all around me...

I was thinking about hobbies last night...about when I meet someone new and they invariably ask "What do you do when you're not at work". I never know what to say because my hobbies right now are stuffing my face, talking on the phone, watching TV and reading...all low intensity, no contact sports.
I was thining about how much I'm looking forward to the day when I can say - horseback riding or tennis or rock climbing - anything that involves a little physical activity.
Horses right now are a no-no because I don't want the ASPCA coming ater me for animal cruelty when I try to mount the poor thing. The last time I played tennis - I had to fake a wrist injury to keep from getting run all around the court and I dar not even contemplate rock climbing...gravity is not my friend.
Ahhhh but one day in the not too distant future (maybe 1.5 yrs???)

Today I begin the 30lbs by 4th of July Challenge. That's about 2.5lbs per week between now and then. It will mean increasing the exercise from 3 days a week to 6 days a week. Game On!!

Went to Happy Hour today and at first I was just drinking diet Coke and Water...then I had a rum&diet coke...just one - so not bad...then they ordered appetizers and I vowed to stay strong...then they plopped the steak bruschetta and the calamari down right in front of me...then I decided to just sample a nibble of the bruschetta...then I decided to taste a morsel of the calamari...then I was diving face-first into the plate - swallowing without chewing and drooling like an infant.
I lost count - but I think I ended up eating 5 pieces of Bruschette, 1 piece of fried cheese, and 1/2 plate of calamari.
I can hardly wait to go to work tomorrow and confess my sins to Robert. Think I may have to do double duty on the bike tomorrow to make up...
