"Oh, we're half way there!"

"Take my hand, and we'll make it I swear. Oh, living on a prayer!"

Yep, I'm officially halfway to my weight goal! Yay!!!!! What an amazing way to start the new year.

Also, it just hit me last night that I lost 57.5 lbs last year. 57.5 lbs! I'll be honest, I never ever thought I'd be saying that. This time last year, I wasn't even planning to be on this journey. I had given up and believed I would be that fat forever. Isn't it crazy how much can change in the year?

Even better, I've enjoyed it. I enjoy my food more, I enjoy my life more, and I enjoy my body more. Even Christmas day dinner and new year didn't seem like such a big deal. Yes, I ate over my usual calorie limit (although I was careful to still eat less calories than I would require to maintain my weight) and I don't plan to do it again until next Christmas, but I'm just glad that I felt able to relax and have a good time without the stressing about food that others seemed to experience.

Life is to be lived, and I feel like I'm finally living it. I hope everyone else feels like they're in a better place now than this time last year and I hope we all take the opportunity to take control of our happiness and live life to the max in 2012...you know...before the world ends ;)

Here's to 2012!

New year, new resolutions.

I posted on a forum recently about motivation and goal setting and thought I should share it here too. With new year upon us, I'm sure many people will be setting themselves some resolutions for next year and a fair few of you will probably have some weight goals in mind.

Achieving your goal is all about motivation. I personally don't do new year resolutions because it's just not the right motivation for me and as a result I never manage to follow through.

However, here is how I did find the motivation to stick with my journey to a healthier me...

I wrote a freaking bucket list!

Like seriously...why didn't I think of it earlier??

To get to where I am today, I changed the focus in my life. Instead of focusing on weight and why I wanted to be slimmer, I focused on what I wanted to do and achieve. Essentially, I focused on living life instead of dwelling on the stuff I wasn't happy about.

To really make my goals clear in my head I literally wrote bucket list, which I seriously recommend doing by the way. It currently has about 70-ish realistic goals that I want to achieve in my life. Only one of those goals was about losing weight.

The rest include things I want to DO. For example, I want to be able to run a mile without feeling like I want to die at the end of it. I want to be able to climb a mountain (just a small one, mind!). I want to be able to go hiking without being in pain when I'm on holiday so I can see amazing places. Other things include giving blood, volunteering at a soup kitchen, learning to knit, etc.

Once you've written your list, start acting upon it immediately! Some stuff might require you to lose weight (I definitely wasn't going up any mountains at 277lbs, for instance), but you can start doing some stuff right now! I found that by generally keeping myself busy and leading a fulfilling life, the weight stuff became much easier to deal with too.

Enjoying life has now become a very time-consuming activity for me, but I love it! Plus I'm halfway to achieving my weight-goal along with it :D

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FOLKS!
