I'm gaining weight because I'm eating very light in the day, so by dinner time, I'm famished and overcompensate by making poor eating choices and/or overeating.

To combat this, I've preplanned what I am going to eat the next day and try to make sure that I am spreading my calories throughout the day evenly - instead of a heavy concentration of caloric intake at the end of the day where I know I will not have much time to burn it off.

Good strategy. Preplanning & preparing your meals earlier takes away some of stress & temptations and helps you throughout the day. Keep it up buddy

Excellent!! Some people also find it benefical to "weight" the days intake towards morning too...eat a bunch of protein and decent calories for breakfast to jump start your metabolism and keep you more satisfied all day. (I probably should follow this advice myself, though for now I am doing great)
