Interesting week. After completing the half marathon I took a week off of training and actually lost weight. Down to 176! Almost at my final goal. I do not think I will want to be lighter than 175, unless I am preparing for another race. Speaking of ... one of my co-workers is inspiring me to continue training for a full marathon. The thought is intriguing. I may do it, but right now my focus is on triathlon training. I would like to have my first sprint triathlon done this spring, and evenutally work up to an Olympic distance triathlon next year.

In any event, hang in there everyone. Stay focused on your goals. EAT WELL, and try to eat the correct portions. For me, the portion control was always the hardest part! There will be times you falter, no doubt; but no matter what happens always start the next day with a positive attitude. Remember, today is the first day of the rest of your life. The question is how do you want to live it?

Well it is done! I finished my first half marathon and am now trying to recover. I finsished in 1:51:55. It was a challenging race but very fun. I truly left it all out on the race course. I have run several 10k races before but this one was considerably harder for me. I learned alot about preparing and running a race this go around. The pre race day eating and drinking schedule is huge (finding the right mix and amount). The week of training before the race day is huge (dont do too much!) Knowing the course is huge.

In any event, I am very pleased. I started to hit the wall at Mile 12 and lost about a minute on my time. I was able to run the entire distance. I am pretty proud of myself:)

I am loving my new lifestyle and look to particpate in abut 4 race events a year. I find it good motivation to keep up my routine and training schedule. Hopefully, I can run the full marathon next year:) I feel great! Keep up the hard work everyone and take time to enjoy your accomplishments.

Alright ... here is the deal. I have just returned from Disney World with minimal damage and have adjusted back to my normal eating routine. I would have liked to have made it to 175 as I will be running my first half marathon this weekend (I set 175 as what I call my race weight even though i have never run a race of significant distance at this weight... go figure). I am so psyched about the race. I feel pretty good and have a goal to finish within an 1:55:00. It will be tough for me. I have run several 10ks before but this is twice the distance and my body has felt the strain.

In any event, I am so happy to have made it this far. I would have never thought it possible for me to do this two years ago, but here I am. The site and the friends have been great. I dont think I will ever go back to my old habits and feel better than ever at the ripe age of 37! I hope to prove the meaning that 40 is the new 20. Take care all and keep it up. Dont give up no matter what. There will be times that seem like you fail, but you truly have only fallen of the horse. The key is to keep getting back on. The next thing you know you won't be able to get off!
