Couple Farm Updates: So we've expanded our one vegetable garden to over 1000 sq ft, and put a SECOND vegetable plot over in the side yard, of almost the same size. My bf is on his way right now to pick up a heavy duty roto-tiller from his grandparents, so we can till up all the land. We also have a small fruit garden (3 kinds of raspberries, 3 kinds of blueberries, 2 types of strawberries and white grapes) which obviously won't produce us fruit this year, but hopefully in a year or two (except the strawberries, they'll produce this year).

We have over 50 types of vegetable crops we are growing. Seriously. Everything from some super rare heirloom tomatoes (Black Sea Man Heirlooms, look them up they're CRAZY looking), to celery, artichokes, cabbages, carrots, peas, beans, turnips, radishes - basically, there's hardly anything we DON'T have. As far as I can tell, the only thing I KNOW we don't have is snow peas...

We are growing at least a dozen herbs in the herb garden as well, from your typical sage, rosemary, chives etc., to things like pumpkin on a stick and the stevia plant. The herb garden is the 3rd plot we have.

And lastly, we are growing like 8 types of gourds and pumpkins... from gigantic Big Moon pumpkins which are the big boys like 200lbs (if we get lucky, lol), to small sweet pie pumpkins, to a variety of gourds. These bad boys will take up the most space, so we have a few "pumpkin patches" designated throughout the yard.

Not to mention by the end of the year, we SHOULD have closer to 40 birds who are laying eggs, with more coming in April. By that time we should have: Leghorn, Red Star Production, Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Partridge Cochin-mixes, Silky-Cochin mixes, Silver Laced Wyandottes AND Amerucanas.

We are hoping to turn a profit this year, a profit related to the cost of the actual gardening, planting, etc. If the profit is high enough, we might do this more as a "career" than a "hobby"....
