Week 3 over and I've lost another 1.3kg. Very happy with that. I've been working hard at the gym, increasing my weights (after 5 weeks) and I'm starting to tone up. I hit the recommended 30+ different plant foods (exc. grains) during my challenge over the past week. I even managed to eat something new: fresh figs, courtesy of my lovely greek neighbour. Did you know that figs are really a flower, not a fruit! My challenge this week is to drink more water. I'm not really good at this :( Any tips/ideas will be gratefully accepted.

I've decided to journal here the drivers for, and goals of, this lifestyle change I'm making (to remind myself when motivation wanes, losses slow or I forget why I'm doing this).
Both my parents are Type 2 diabetics, have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and are on medication for all three. My Dad also has heart disease. I swore I'd never get that way. I've been pushing my luck for too long.
Around 2 1/2 years ago my much loved younger brother passed away. We were very close. He'd gained weight and was inactive due to a workplace accident that left him disabled. At the time he was overdoing it, redecorating the study for wfh. This may have played a role in his death. In my grief I lost sight of myself. I ate for comfort, stopped looking after myself and stopped socialising. I realise now this was not good for me and it is time for a new chapter in my life - a healthy one.
GOALS:
To get my weight back within the healthy weight range. 76kg is at the top of that range. I'll reassess when I get there.
To reduce my waist. I carry my weight around my middle, which puts me in the danger zone healthwise. I need to get this below 80cm to decrease disease risk.
To improve my total cholesterol, HDL & LDL scores.
To fit into my wardrobe of clothes, some of which I've never worn 😀

Hooray!!? Today I dropped down into the 'overweight' category with a BMI of 29.78. I am no longer obese! After 2 weeks I am starting to get into the swing of things with regards to diet, planning and recording all meals. My body must be adjusting too, as I am no longer feeling hungry on the reduced calorie intake. As a chocoholic, the past week has been somewhat of a challenge but I did allow myself some mini strawberry eggs and a small Lindt bunny. The remaining chocolate is out of the house and I have cleared the cupboards of all junk food. I have also decided to set myself a diet related challenge/focus each week. This week I will try to eat as many different plant foods as I can. Oh, I also hit my first mini goal of 4kg lost so I'm off to the shops to buy a new face cream & sheet mask and will give myself a mini facial as my treat!

As I have around 20kg to lose, I am going to break it down into 4kg mini goals, to make it less daunting.
I'll give myself a small treat each time I hit a mini-goal: non-food of course!

Happy Easter FS Friends
Week 1 down and I am thrilled with my results. I know most of this is probably water, but it is very motivating nonetheless. Had a good week foodwise, including eating out twice. I chose carefully from the menu and ordered a pumpkin & beetroot salad, and a chicken salad with dressing on the side. Mid-week was difficult, when the 'carb monster' hit and I ate too many savoury shapes. They were there, so I ate them! Did an extra session at the gym to help compensate. Note to self: do NOT have any junk food in the house!
