End of Week 5 and the weight loss has tapered off somewhat to 0.6kg. All good 👍, I was expecting this as I've upped my carbs a bit this week and increased reps at the gym. Feeling the cold and wanting to eat more, so I've made a big pot of soup!
My focus for the week ahead is polyunsaturated fats (omega 6 & omega 3 fatty acids). I'm incorporating walnuts, LSA & chia seeds as well as 3 serves of oily fish (salmon & tuna) into my diet plan this week. All the additions I've made so far will continue as I go forward. 😀

Losing 0.6 kg a Week

Well it's already time for my Week 4 review. I've lost 6.5 kg (since starting), 1.2 kg this week and I'm finally starting to lose cm as well. I'm no longer missing bread, rice and pasta and am enjoying a wide range of veg instead. My OH only eats salad, so prior to starting this diet I'd really slackened off in that department. I'm also feeling more energetic, which is helping at the gym! My challenge last week was to drink more water and I downloaded a 'water reminder' app which has really helped. One of my goals is to improve my cholesterol scores, so my focus over the next few weeks is dietary fats. I've already cut out all trans fats (store-bought cakes, biscuits, chips etc) and limited saturated fats.
My focus this week is monounsaturated fats, which help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. I'll be ensuring I include avocado, olive oil, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, cashews and peanuts this week. Nuts are an important part of the Med diet as a good source of healthy fat, protein and fibre. I'll be including them most days of the week :)

Leftover homemade ANZAC biscuits are calling my name.......MUST resist.........100 cals (15.4g carbs) ea of sweet deliciousness. Crisis averted - for now! Hurry up and finish them family, before I succumb :)

Thought I'd post my very first pic of a lunch I had out while shopping/running errands during the week. My hubby wanted a burger so we went to Grill'd. I chose the 'Superpower salad' which fit nicely into my Med style eating plan. Grilled chicken and 10 plant foods, including the nut crumb mix, pepitas and olive oil dressing! Only 450 cals. YUM!
