I IS A SAD BUNNI.
Yep, total failure on the atkins deal. I did learn a lot about how carbs can affect my weight and I am staying away from refined carbs and limiting grain-based carbs, but I had to go to something I can stick with forever I need to be able to have fruit, I need to be able to eat carbs in moderation(even naughty ones sometimes)without gaining 10 pounds of water weight overnight. It is too disheartening.
So I went off dieting for a pretty long while and was hoping my weight wouldnt get real high if I made an effort to eat healthy. Well I work at a restaurant, and I fell back into peer pressure and was eating way more starch and fatty meats in one sitting than I needed too pretty much every day I worked. I had thrown my scale away(a decision I still stand by) so I dint know how bad it was until I went to the doctor. So I guess I gained 18 pounds from where I was. Poop.
So here we go again for the millionth time. I am not recording my calories every day(because I get crazy), but i am checking in when I need to or if I feel I have eaten too much. Basically i am just trying to eat a crap ton of veggies every day and eat the most healthy options at each meal. I am trying to do 3 meals a day and one or two snacks if needed but NOT required. I hate when snacks or mini meals are required. I only snack if I need to and I keep it small.
Clean eating is the name of the game, but it means different things to different people. I dont want to completely cut out any food group anymore, it just kills me everytime.
I will eat some packaged foods because it is hard for me to get by otherwise, but will stick to the least sweetened and most natural option every time I can. No sugary yogurts or cereals. I can have oatmeal or oat bran or flaxmeal for cereal. No cream of wheat though. Wheat is not so good, but I havent cut it completely out. I have whole wheat pitas and my flax wraps contain wheat.
I will weigh myself once a week at my gym.
I am still figuring all this out but I already feel better and I have a lot more energy. I am getting back to exercising regularly and it feels really good. I hope I have found something I can make a lifestyle.

Well, in 10 days I have got the weight off from the cheat day I had and am ready to actually make some new progress. If I can get to 130 by the end of October, I would be super happy with that. I think it is doable. I was thinking about throwing a fast day in whenever I haven't lost anything in 4 or 5 days. 2pm to 2pm or 1pm to 1pm would be the best. Dinner to dinner is too hard, and the 36 hrs one is really painful towards the end.
But after doing a few days of 24 hr fasting, I know that if I can do that, I can certainly keep from snacking on most days! 3 square meals will get me weight loss if I don't go overboard on carbs or protein. The goal is no more than 40 carbs at the most, and about 82 grams of protein a day.

OK I am going back to normal low carb for now. Fasting today was hard. I attempted to fast from 7:30 pm to 7:30 pm the next day. I was really hungry and lightheaded and foggy all day. I almost made it but cracked at 6:15 pm. I was just on the edge. I ate about 1800 calories. I had one reeses cup also, before the sweet free challenge starts(there was like 3 hrs before it started lol). It actually tasted way too sweet for me since I hadn't been eating much sweet anyway for a while, wasn't worth it.
The first fast I did was the easiest, from 2pm to 2pm the next day. I can do that next time, but I am going to take break for a while.
Doing too much too soon probably isnt too good anyway. It's hard enough doing sweet free.

Well tomorrow is the sweet free challenge. As usual I am fighting the urge to have a last hurrah before giving something up. I did have a bit of splenda, and I MIGHT go get a diet Dr pepper from sonic. But no real sugar items. Tomorrow, no sweet stuff AT ALL! for 30 days omg.
I think I might just do 2 or 3 24 hr fasts this week instead of a 36 hr one. The 24 hr fasts are easier by far. Maybe next week I will throw in a 36 hr again after a good day or 2 of regular eating.
I went ahead and bought some more of the Joseph's flax oat and whole wheat pitas. It is the only thing I have been eating with grains, but it seems to be ok as far as weight loss in moderation, especially when I only eat 1/2 at a time. I also found some awesome "crackers" made out of Parmesan cheese. Less than 1 carb per serving and they are yummy!
