Lol! So last night went to pot - in a big way.

I had every intention of NOT breaking my 'fast day', but of course I thought ordering a double whisky on the rocks would be the sociable thing to do and that with soup should not take me tooooooo much over my 500 cal limit.

We were being introduced to a friend's new girlfriend, so of course we chatted for ages before ordering and once we ordered I was so ravenous and already hypoglycaemic due to the day's low cal intake and the alcohol that I ordered a pizza! Vouched to only eat 3 slices, but then the pizza took a very long time (a really long time!) to arrive and I ate the whole thing! Totally blew my fast day out the water!

Oh well. It's upward and onward. I'm not letting this stop me. In all, my calorie intake was well under my daily intake that should be 2000 cals.

That was yesterday. Today is going okay. I'm not on a fast day and my intake should come in well within my daily limit. I'm not recording those days for now, but have set a challenge on here that starts in 4 days where one of the mini-challenges is to record food daily. Why don't you join me! The challenge is called: Let's drop 5kg in a month

Please let me know if you're writing a journal. I'd love to follow you. Even if it's not the 5:2 way, that's fine too. I'm interested in everyone's respective journeys! As long as it's healthy!!

So, I started on the 5:2 today. The (my) plan is to eat 500 calories twice a week (600 calories for men) and the rest of the week 2000 calories per day. Your 'non-fast day' calorie limit will differ from mine, so if you're keen to follow this diet, see the link: http://thefastdiet.co.uk

My 'fast days' will vary according to my calendar and what I have planned for my week. I'm still deciding whether I will log my non-fasting days on fatsecret as I pretty much have an idea (from previous calorie counting stints) of how much I need to consume to stick to the 2000 calorie mark. I have a super-fit athletic partner who pretty much eats what he enjoys, so during the day on non-fasting days I'll eat Future Life for breakfast, something 'reasonable' for lunch and will then save most of my calories to enjoy over a super-nice dinner. I enjoy cooking, so least I won't have to give that up and can also enjoy nights out and a couple of glasses of wine. I know it's not ideal to eat one's biggest meal at night, but this is why I'm going with 5:2, it suits my lifestyle.

On 'fast days' I'll definitely be logging those and checking in here. I'm hoping to only weight myself once a week (and not every day as I tend to do when I'm on a 'diet'!).

For the record, I am a vegetarian, but love carbohydrates. Unwilling to give them up for the sake of the latest low-carb-high-protein/fat-fad. (Works for some people, so shouldn't be too harsh about that here, although I think a balance and clean eating is better than too much protein, especially all that animal protein and fat. Ewe.)

So, today is my first 'fast day'. I might go slightly over 500 calories as it wasn't a planned fast day, it sort of became one as the day bumbled along and I found myself at midday with no food onboard just yet - plenty coffee though. (*blames baby* - yip, mostly here to get rid of 'baby fat')

Breaking news. My partner just got home and announced that we're going out for dinner with friends. Shucks. Soup for me it is then. Urgh. I hate going out to dinner and nibbling on a salad or sipping on a low cal soup and having no wine or whisky! So not me, but I refuse to break today's 'fast' as it is going pretty well. Definitely going over 500 cals then, but a good start nevertheless.

Please feel free to join me on my journey!

xx
