Gaining 0.6 kg a Week
31 December 2023
I have 4 months until a big trip, I hate New Years resolutions, they die off pretty quickly. With something to look forward to that requires physical activity gives me better options.
I purposely chose 2 trips back to back that are more physical with walking up to 5 miles daily on uneven surfaces, off and on trains, planes, ferries, buses.
What I have done:
1. Signed up for 2 months of Enhanced Fitness classes (evidence based balance, strength and stamina classes geared towards Seniors).
2. Signed up for Dry January again this year.
3. Gone back to the gym since the weather doesn't allow for much outside walking right now.
4. Renewed my membership in the Mountaineers, local hiking group.
5. Reconnect with Fat Secret.

Gaining 2.5 kg a Week

Well, nearly 2 months of Pescatarian lifestyle. I think I have grown gills! I have to say though that I haven't really lost a lot of weight but I feel better.
You know that sluggish feeling after eating heavy meat? Well it's gone, my joints feel better, likely the Omega 3, I can't take Fish Oil caps, they drive my blood sugars too much.
This lifestyle is quite sustainable, I don't miss other meats, I really didn't have steak more that a couple times a year but lived on Chicken and Pork. Have had fun experimenting with different veggies and olive oils, seasonings. I look for sustainable fisheries, eat low mercury fish (not much concern for me, I used to roll mercury around on a table top, yes I know but we used it at the hospital for procedures).
See how I do on an upcoming trip, finding foods I can have, may have to either skip food or make the best choices. I am taking snacks that I can eat.
