Brutal weight gain over the winter ... I am a living breathing example of Demings exhortation:

OK.
Here's the drill. I was off on a business trip two weeks ago to Toronto and Montreal and it was fun - client contact, public speaking, high level interactions - fun. Even managed a workout one day in Toronto. BUT - lots of socializing, drinking and too much food. But the real kicker is the ADRENALINE. This level of interacting with my peers and clients is so much fun plus I have to be ON - so three days of that and then off to a conference where again, lots of socializing, drinking and eating - and again, 'ON', with the adrenaline. I waffled about going to Nfld but then came home on the Monday, and CRASHED bug time. Tuesday was a stat , Wed wasn't bad but Thurs / Friday were, emotionally painful. Friday I was a veg - totally inert. Total crash. I have never noticed this before - so Sat was better and Sunday, a lot better. I drove the dog to the kennel, ran around a bit, and then went out and bought some x-country skis! Just like that - used boots, but new skis and poles - $350 - and I can't wait to start! Went to the gym for 40 minutes of cardio on Sunday and again this morning after dropping Kyra off. Just like that -

If I eat too much, drink too often, stay out late and fail to exercise, eventually it catches up with me. Brutal self discipline
