Well, I have received some bad news from the powers that be.

It looks like I have taken a few unexpected hits in a row to my finances. I was rolling with the blows initially, but this last one was one I simply couldn't roll with. All therapy and medical treatment will have to stop. The diet will have to be modified. Expenses will need to be reduced as much as possible. Hell, I may even have to stop my internet. In my mind that is a necessary expense, but how the hell am I supposed to keep up with the bills?

The only choice I have is to find a second job. I worked so hard that I had an emotional and physical break down the last time I did that, but there is no way I can fund my current life style which is already minimal when you factor out the medical expenses and testing. I can easily cut my food expenses down, just eat a lot of processed, refined foods. That'll do it!

I will try to keep the diet and exercise plan going as previously planned, but I may have to adjust intakes as I cannot afford that much lean protein. The cost and the diminishing returns just don't mesh well.

To be honest, this is just an emotional rambling and I'm not sure what to do. I just want to succeed in life, and every time it looks like things are getting better I get dealt another bad hand.

Life is always throwing crap at us. You will get through this. Do what you have to do to survive. Frozen vegetables are still nutritious and buy fruit in season which is most of them. Look for sales on lean meats. Legumes are a good source of protein. When things were really lean with me, I used to eat rice with beans a lot. Just get measuring cups and spoons so you can portion out your food. Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear that. Money troubles hit right at our core and magnify our stress levels. I have a source of 10 lb bagged chicken leg quarters that vary from $.59 a pound down to a low of $.39 a pound. I stock up when it hits the low price. It's at a small hispanic grocery store near us. Sometimes smaller ethnic stores have some great buys. Eggs are good and inexpensive protein - I wouldn't hesitate to use them as much as needed. They got a bad rap years ago but they didn't deserved it :-) Take care of yourself <3

Thanks for the support. I just need to buckle down and pay attention to the finances. The irony is that I create the schedule at my work, and I'm not able to give myself the hours that I want because I'd basically be robbing the other co-workers of hours. I'm able to stave off the inevitable by using my accrued leave hours as a stop gap on my no-shift days, but after a month of that I'll be without any leave and my income will drop dramatically. So I have that long to figure this all out. I guess it is a good thing I can eat carbs now, because rice and beans are starting to look more and more like a part of my future lol.
