Good job! I'm coddling my first ever jars of starter as a complete newbie who refused to buy a starter. It's been a trip. I used whole grain local wheat and retail dark rye and used 'rules' from a confusing array of web sites, so I now have two quite different starters and a test loaf almost done first proofing. The starters have very different aromas and I like both of them. We'll see which one is the more viral!

Looks beautiful! I do so love a dark, hearty, homemade bread. Gopherit -- I've left the sourdough making in my husband's capable hands, but he's told me the rye makes a really good starter
