Something about the term "cheat day/meal" irks me, like its bad, or taboo. i like to think of them as "refeed" days instead. Your cheat meal isn't junk food. To me, its more of a refeed, which is normal and healthy to maintain a lower calorie limit to promote weight loss. i love the concept with your photo and message. With reframing the mindset helps with maintaining progress. Cheating, in any sense, is a bad thing. A refeed is good and beneficial, even if you have ice cream, cake and pizza today and back on your grind tomorrow or the next day. That's still good; and technically considered a refeed! you haven't sabotaged your WOE and weight loss, and may have even helped it. i hope this is well received and understandable, no criticism, just hoping to promote a reframed mindset towards meals that arent on our usual meal plan. im a recovering disordered eater and spent nearly 2 years learning to reframe my mindset towards food and hope to spread that knowledge!

I love this! And I love to notice how we each assign meaning. And the end of the day, words are just sounds that come out of our face. My cat 'understands' me because of my tone, not my words. We assign meaning, and then, we assign other things as a result of the meaning we personally give. It is so valuable to understand the meanings we assign things so we can change the meaning when it makes sense to do so. That said, I might have pizza for dinner! 😅

I think everybody on FS has a different perspective on food choices. If your goal is weight loss and you see CICO and macros as the end game to health it’s easy to justify and have cheat days. If your goal is more health and nutrition based it’s more difficult to make those choices. For me it’s like making a decision to drive without my seatbelt on Friday nights. How can it go on and off the list of foods you eat. Either it’s on or it’s off. If YOU think it’s a cheat…stick with those thoughts

I call Saturdays "do nothing days" because I'm not tracking calories at all and not doing a dedicated workout. I don't always expand on that and just find the easiest well known term to use is "cheat day". I also had chicken nuggets and banquet food at a birthday party so definitely didn't stay healthy! The word itself doesn't hold much meaning to me one way or the other.
