I've decided to journal here the drivers for, and goals of, this lifestyle change I'm making (to remind myself when motivation wanes, losses slow or I forget why I'm doing this). Both my parents are Type 2 diabetics, have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and are on medication for all three. My Dad also has heart disease. I swore I'd never get that way. I've been pushing my luck for too long. Around 2 1/2 years ago my much loved younger brother passed away. We were very close. He'd gained weight and was inactive due to a workplace accident that left him disabled. At the time he was overdoing it, redecorating the study for wfh. This may have played a role in his death. In my grief I lost sight of myself. I ate for comfort, stopped looking after myself and stopped socialising. I realise now this was not good for me and it is time for a new chapter in my life - a healthy one. GOALS: To get my weight back within the healthy weight range. 76kg is at the top of that range. I'll reassess when I get there. To reduce my waist. I carry my weight around my middle, which puts me in the danger zone healthwise. I need to get this below 80cm to decrease disease risk. To improve my total cholesterol, HDL & LDL scores. To fit into my wardrobe of clothes, some of which I've never worn 😀
