Kat1953's Journal, 01 Feb 23

I can't find it today but yesterday someone mentioned walking 2 1/2 miles around her house. This is a great idea I never thought of! I am recovering from the after effects of COVID-19. I have a "persistent pleural effusion". I have not been able to exercise because the effort to breath puts strain on my heart. I am 78 years old. Yesterday my pulmonologist gave me permission to start walking gradually as long as it does not make breathing more difficult. Not exercising has been hard on me. I have been maintaining a 95 pound weight loss for seven years and recently lost another 15 pounds. Walking in the house solves the problem of what do I do if I am half a mile from home and exhausted? I wish I could remember your name but thank you so much for posting that.

You are doing so well!! Even matching in place is good! Light hand weights can also help get the heart rate up! Good luck!!

You do need sunshine. Can you just walk up and down in front of your house.

Debbie Cousins walks in her house. I will sometimes do that in late afternoon when I'm trying to reach a certain number of steps.

I’ve had good luck with walking in the house several periods of time, for several reasons. It’s great to have it as an option when necessary. Beats collapsing out in the elements.
