Southern-Style Cornbread

A full-flavor cornbread. Not vegan. No sugar.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 °F (205 °C).
  2. Place bacon drippings in cast iron skillet and place in heating oven.
  3. When cast iron skillet is hot and drippings melted, mix all dry ingredients together.
  4. Add egg to water and mix.
  5. Add egg mixture to dry ingredients and stir.
  6. Pour most of bacon drippings into batter from skillet and stir. Then pour batter into hot skillet.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove promptly.

This is good cornbread! But it is not good for the DASH diet. It's a full-sodium version.
