Just got a new hip replacement and added quite a few pounds. Still walking with a cane. I've been holding my calorie count to 1500 or below this week. Really focusing on non-carbohydrate choices. I love fatsecret because I can almost predict how much weight I will lose before I get on the scale based on 3500/lb (for now). Base on past experience, I know the first year of a weight-loss program I will lose about half the weight that the 3,500-calories rule predicts. In other words as I approach 12 months, the new rule is 7,000 calories/lb.! While this is disheartening, I know I have to up my game month over month as my body adapts to the reduced calorie count. As my hip gets stronger, that's exactly what I intend to to. Good luck to all the others in this challenge and WE CAN DO IT!
