Yesterday the hubby, puppy and I went out for a day trip. My anxiety about eating out almost got the best of me...multiple times. I packed a lunch, ate it there, and spent the money I would have normally spent on lunch out on a new pair of beautiful walking sandals and a new book!
That's a huge victory for me. "Treating myself" with dinner or lunch at a restaurant is a huge pitfall for me. I need to change my thinking and learn to "treat myself" with other (more tangible) things...

That's great! It's hard to get away from that "food as a reward" thinking, but it definitely helps! I love the idea of viewing food as simply fuel. Yes, it's nice to enjoy it, but life is about so much more than food.

this is fantastic. I also used to "reward" or comfort myself with food. I am trying facials, massage, mani/pedi as alternatives (and books)
