Linda Marmon's Journal, 10 Dec 14

12-10-2014 And again I weighed in at 259.0. Obviously, I'm not cutting back as well as I thought I was. New plan...I'm going to make cabbage soup with beef broth, garlic and onion, and beans. Shoney's restaurant makes a yummy Bean, beef, and Cabbage soup. I think I can work up a low calorie version of it. Rob likes a breakfast burrito made with egg, cheese, with or without sausage and wrapped in a flour tortilla. I can try a half one and then drink the soup broth when I get hungry between meals. I'll see if that'll work. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi Linda :) I get these packages of "Joseph's: Flax, Oat Bran & Whole Wheat Flour Pita Bread" at Walmart. They are wonderful and healthy. Only 60 calories for a whole pita. I use them in place of tortillas which is usually 150 calories for one. I use them for all my bread needs. I use them for cold meat sandwiches, sloppy joes, taco's, breakfast pitas. I also use them to make small pizza's with healthy toppings. They are very diverse and have been a life saver for me since I love, love, love bread! lol. You have a very good idea with the soup too. low calorie Soup can fill you up for a small number of calories. I like to keep cans of soup on hand (Progresso light)for when I am hungry but don't want to spend out a lot of calories. Of course there is more sodium in canned soups and fresh is always best but sometimes when I am running around crazy busy grabbing a can of soup to heat in the microwave is just the thing!

I love Sprouts Chicken Breakfast sausage, or Shwan's Turkey Sausage patties. I have found that depending on how you cook it, most "beef/pork" eaters can't tell the difference. Better for you and the planet. win win

I love progresso soup also. But I eat it cold right out of the can. It makes a great traveling meal for me I eat pretty much what I want, but this last month I have really been watching my portions and that really works. I know I am helpless against food, I have no control, so every morning I say a little prayer. "I can't control my food consumption, so I am taking it out of my hands and putting it into yours". Then when I find myself wanting to eat I stop and think about my prayer then think "am I really hungry". Then I make my choice either to eat or not to eat. Did you know sometimes if your thirsty your brain can send out a hungry message instead. So don't forget to hydrate. Your body needs 1/2 oz. Of water per pound of body weight?

I like the Progresso soup out of the can idea. I didn't get to make my cabbage bean soup so I opened a can of beef broth and tossed a can of mushrooms and a can of cream of mushroom soup in a pan with it and it made a great soup for me while Rob ate hamburger steak with vermicelli and mushrooms. I have no control over food so my best choices are to keep looow calorie foods available for anytime. I wrote the names of the pita bread in my notes on my iphone so it'll be handy for my next trip to Walmart. Anyone know a good low cal Swiss cheese? Kudos to those of you who are losing...And to those of us who haven't found the key to it yet, we will get there. Thanks for the support.

I would strongly recommend avoiding canned soups due to the BPA's that leech into food from the cans liner. I was a huge consumer of canned soup, am certain it played a role in development of my breast cancer. Stick with fresh or frozen if possible.
