Mycology's Journal, 27 Apr 20

Day two of using FS; I recorded everything down which I've eaten today, and made sure to go outside to get a brisk walk in and the sunshine. My garden is beginning to grow. The cherry tomatoes got a lot of sunlight and hopefully the dill weed will grow faster thanks to the Miracle Gro I put in there. Slugs are still eating my basil, but my cilantro and parsley are being left alone and growing well.

If you take a small container like a tuna tin, fill it with beer, and set it on the ground. The slugs will be attracted to the beer, go for a sip, fall in and drown. Don't submerge the top of the tin even with the soil level or you might also kill ground beetles which eat slugs. Keep rims at least 1″ above soil level. I am not kidding. Look it up.

I'm only growing string beans in big pots on my front deck, but I really enjoy watching them grow every day. Planted them early, so they're not growing as quickly as when I planted them later last year. Isn't growing things FUN!

Get rod of slugs by putting some coffee grounds sprinkled on the top soil You can use used coffee grounds or straight up coffee grounds. I keep a container in my fridge of daily coffee grounds and once a month spread some on plants in m garden and outdoor plants that attract slugs. It is a "miracle" cure to get ride of slugs. No rocket science !
