Hi FS family,

Sorry about the long post but this is the only my place where I am truly supported by people on similar health paths and journeys to mine. I appreciate the FS family so much 👏🏾

I am close to breaking my psychological barrier (70kg) which I haven’t broken since 2012. So much so that I changed my goal weight from 66 to 64, so convinced am I that this time I actually can and will break into 60s. But I thought let me really test to see what my body does Not want as I’ve never had tests done or anything to check.

So the past two weeks have been doing just that! I started by increasing my carb intake and surprisingly my weight wasn’t affected as much as I thought. It went up momentarily then back down. Then I increased sugar (hadn’t had sweets or chocolate since 30th Nov 2018!) Well that’s my kryptonite I discovered. A week later, I’m still trying to get rid of the sugar gain! I’m grateful for the clear indication and better understanding of my body, because it’ll help me make more informed health decisions. I’m annoyed with myself a little for not checking this out sooner but knowledge gained is never wasted or late!

I also started working out doing dance and kettle bell workouts on YouTube (listen, gym will almost never see me again after the wealth of free videos I discovered!!!). I’d wanted to get to my goal weight before starting training so that I would avoid muscle gain on the scale but I feel fantastic and I’m seeing my body starting to get shape / become toned! Long story short - I’m realizing that this journey must be a health journey first and a weight loss journey second, and perhaps to obsess a little less about the scale because truly speaking all other indications are positive (especially clothes 💃🏽🙌🏾).

Thank you FS family for your support, and all the best to you all on your journeys💪🏾

Hi I also find sugar a big thing for my control. Remember that sugar is apparently 8x more addictive than cocaine for the human brain so 😳 when I get a sweet craving I have some fruit and honey and I find that it does the trick for me. Maybe these types of replacements will help you.

Sugar was my menace. I have since substituted it with raw honey not tons but about 1 table spoon a day, in my coffee or yogurt. I have a vice which is two blocks of lindt dark chocolate at night after dinner. Keeps me going and without craving.

Being toned is awesome because you can have 2 people with the exact same weight, standing side by side, and one of them will just appear small and lighter because of good muscle tone. Keep up the good fight. The number is just that...a number...

I am so glad you are doing so well. But isn't it just frustrating how every time you get back on track there is always some holiday or festive time that always includes chocolate and sweets. It's valentines, Easter, then the cold of winter making you want all kinds of goodies then it's Halloween and probably a few birthdays and then Christmas and new year. I tell keeping a straight focused mind is very hard.

Keep going at least you are learning what works and what’s your hang up. One day at a time....

@kather1612 and @debbieskop I appreciate your support, thank you so much. It easy to forget how far one has come when ther going gets rough again but I’m learning, one day at a time, one gram as a time!

@LowCarbFemmeFit I’m learning that that’s so true - a kilo is not just a kilo. It made no sense to me that the weights wasn’t going down but I was seeing my arms and stomach becoming toned🤷🏽‍♀️Thank you for the reminder because it was such an AHA moment for me : a number is just that, a number!

@slimmingboshoff1 Thank you for the encouragement. It’s amazing just how many social events seem to crop up All the time! Were the always this many? Is what I keep asking myself! Then having to explain why you can’t eat without sounding like a snob or rude 🤦🏾‍♀️ it’s tiring🙇🏽‍♀️. My trick has been to wear something I can now fit into, and ise that as a reminder to stay on track. But it’s Hard!

Can you go on YouTube and research on insulin resistance. Found it to be useful in my weight loss journey.
