Lavinnia's Journal, 06 Jun 10

The scale says I've gained a pound. I'm not going to get upset again. That's down 3 from yesterday. I know it's because I forgot to take my diuretic for a few days and it takes awhile for that to eliminate the extra water. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing and try to get in that exercise. The pool is open now, and it's easier for my aching joints to work out in the water. I even shaved my legs! lol

Hi Lavinnia...read your journal note and just thought I would say..first of all...great job on your efforts to lose weight and pursue a healthy lifestyle! Secondly.....if you are taking diuretics..make sure you are drinking LOTS of water...I know it sounds funny to drink lots of water when you are taking diuretics but you have to, to stay hydrated. Water itself is a diuretic and if you can get away from taking diuretics typically the better because it is only water weight you are seeing on the scale. Drink lots of water each day. I ususally try to get in a gallon or so a day. That will naturally act as a diuretic and will help flush out the toxins from your body. Also asparagus is a natural diuretic. You can steam a bunch or eat them like carrots and that will also help. I hope I have helped in some way. Keep up the great work and let me know if I can ever be of help or just be your cheerleader. Have a great weekend!

Oooh you sexy thing with the shaved legs! LOL! I shave regularly in the summer but in the winter when I wear only jeans....cavewoman! LOL! Anyways - don't stress over that pound, you know it is just water and it will be gone before you know it. We bought my kids a pool today, it's one of those that you blow up the ring and fill it up. It is 8 ft by 3 ft deep. Not much of a pool but I'm getting in it!! Thank Goodness my only neighbors are dead.... we live accross the road from a graveyard in the country. :D

I am so very lucky in that I have very little hair on my legs and what is there is super fine. I shave about once every 4-6 weeks. Lavinnia, I got in my pool for the first time yesterday, and it was wonderful. I had stopped swimming because I was too embarrassed and didn't have a swim suit that fit. Now I can fit into one of my older ones, and I took advantage of the pool and actually did about 20 minutes of slow swimming. Felt great!!! Have fun exercising in the cool, bouyant water!!

I am actually the same way Stef, I am a natural redhead so what hair I grow is very light and you can only see it when the sun hits it. It still bothers me though, it's not super fine - its prickly when I havent shaved in about a week. I still have cavewoman legs in the winter but they aren't hairy like a man's thank goodness.

Mine never gets prickly, and actually it is dark, but there is so little of it, you cannot see it or feel it. As I said I am very lucky. I only shave because it is great for exfoliating.

lol...thanks for the tips, encouragement and laughs. When I was younger, I had to shave every day or it was a forest. As I've aged, though, it's gotten so fine my boys tell I don't need to shave at all. Still, I like the feel of a smooth leg. I can get by with once a week, and often do. I'm up to about 100 ounces of liquids a day, 70 or so of that as water. The rest is coffee and tea with an occasional diet wild cherry pepsi. I have one of those about twice a week. I love it so. I feel like I'm in the bathroom ALL the time. lol I go to the public pool. No room in my tiny yard for anything other than one of those 6' in diameter kiddie pools that are 6" deep. lol. I went through water therapy about 6 years ago for my rheumatoid arthritis and learned some really good exercises to do in the water. I'll be doing those and try a little swimming if my shoulders are 'loose' enough. I've always loved the water. Mama says she had to watch me closely once I could ambulate, coz I'd run right over to the water and jump in. I don't mind going to the pool. I've seen women my size and larger there. I'm too old to care who sees me jiggling my fat. :) So, as soon as the office opens Monday morning, I'm getting a pool pass!

Cavewoman number three...honestly I don't like to wear shorts so I am pretty much a cave woman for much of the summer too. I am a HOT cavewoman but a cavewoman none the less.
