My 25th wedding anniversary is coming up and I want to get portraits done with my husband. Due to a herniated disc 10 years ago, it has been difficult for me to exercise like I used to, so I have gradually put on the extra 40 lbs. I have maintained my current weight for the past two years, so I know I have the knowledge and tools to at least maintain.
I probably should have started this journey 3 months ago if I wanted to have lost 15 lbs. by my anniversary, but it is never to late to have the desire to achieve a modest goal that will help me feel better and have more energy to play with my grandkids.
I guess I sort of got the idea from my husband, because he said he wasn't going to head back to the gym until 50% or more of the New Years Resolution crowd had dropped away. February 1st sounded like a good day to start :-)
I started counting calories on January 31st so I would feel more comfortable with it by 2/1/14. I wrote down my common breakfast items first, which is the meal I have the least problem with. I measured out all my condiments, etc. (like coffee creamer, sugar, etc.) and was pleased that I still had pretty accurate measuring skills (as in, I use approx. 2 TBL of creamer without having to measure).
So, I am two days in and I am not struggling with any major cravings. I plan to take a hint from my husband's book and have one "cheat day" a week, although I don't think I'll go crazy, since I'd like to reach my goal of 20 lbs. weight loss in less than 6 months, thank you very much!
