First, Happy and Healty New Year to all!!!

Since the start date of my chart is older than a year, I changed it to be a bit less demoralizing. But, one change only for me. I think I've lost, maybe, a pound this week, but did not weight myself consistently enough to be sure.
Holidays were not a friend to weight loss! Love of iced sugar cookies was my downfall, but it's over, start again, keep going.
Haven't been around due to a nasty arthritic flare, holidays, art show which took every minute I had to get set for. It turned out well. Sales for everyone were down due to construction of the building, with people hesitating to walk through a tunnel to get there, in the rain, yet.
I'd thought of setting small goals with a short time frame, but that type of pressure will just make me overeat. I've learned this, won't do it again. Goal of 13 lbs. by May is more than reasonable.
New year, no resolutions, just continue to do what I should.

The Weekend of Dire Temptation is over. Yay!
It was a bit strange. I told the family that we were going to barbecue something due to the weather. The response wasn't the anticipated sadness, but a real shocker!
My DH said he didn't care if he never ate turkey again, as did my son, who confessed he never liked it anyway. We got some good steak, tender but not fatty, and cooked it, along with salad and a baked potato. I had a small red potato instead of those giant Russets.
Then on to dessert...blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. I had ONE serving.
Next day, too much of the cookie and ice cream munching. Saturday, went to see a play. Unfortunately, they were selling very good brownies there, got one. That's because I had to skip dinner to get to the play . This is not an excuse. Traffic here is brutal enough so that to go 20 miles takes 60 minutes sometimes. We had a light pasta meal when we got home.
Yesterday the (^(*&)^^ cookies and ice cream reappeared. They are really the bane of my weight loss. I have learned to pass by my favorite one mostly, with a glare and quiet hiss. Hard to admit that a cookie is stronger than you, but it's the case here.
Monday, weekend over, time to reform. I have not eaten anything yet. One slice of cheese, coffee, fruit, and a roll is what I'm having, balanced, and should be enough. Will start to drink water. Winter water is great from the faucet: really cold with a wonderful taste! Some lemon or lime, with ice, makes it perfect.

Early Thursday, still Wednesday for me. Going to bed now. Shopping for food all afternoon. Dinner: Rice, shrimp, green beans, chopped tomatoes, soy sauce, pepper garlic sauce, garlic, cayenne. This was shrimp with vegetables and spicy sauce over sticky rice. It came out really well!
Dessert unfortunately was cookies. Also had a small bit of wine with dinner. The meds I take make any more than about 2 oz. of wine not allowed so it is just a taste.
Lunch was a leftover slice of broccoli quiche, breakfast some nut-whole grain bread with jam.
This is a great improvement: three real meals instead of eating chaos all day: nibbling sweets, bites of food, water, more sweets, etc., no real plan or structure.
We are barbecuing steaks tomorrow with baked potatoes and salad. Blueberry pie for dessert. It's going to be over 80F here, not a good idea to run an oven in the house all day! Then, my son's face just lit up when he found out about the steaks. Turns out he never did like turkey very much.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. It's a good thing that we have this space to think about when there is a huge food holiday!

Hi, all

The reminder saves me from completely going off the deep end every week. The weight gain is noticeable, clothes a bit tighter.
Lots of stressors: one of my cats died, medications I take were changed around. They make me a nervous wreck, but are still preferable to being in pain 24/7. I've become a nail biter, never in my life was one.
Jewelry Holiday show coming up early this year, which was a shock, so I'm jamming away with making a few more pieces, pricing, setup, etc.
Also some very worrisome family issues, private for sake of the respective family members.
I take all in stride by eating ice cream and Gianna's cookies. If you have never eaten them, better not to start. My daughter's comment yesterday after her first one was, "She never should have made these. " But she did, said I, and we gobbled up a few.
Nevertheless, I have so much to be very grateful for. One thing is the ability to weigh in and remember what I need to do!
-------------Looked back at 11/13 entries. No change in attitude, although I always have some basic awareness of what I eat. The more things change, the more they remain the same.
