This post is for my Canadian FS friends, and because this is a food related app and we are all trying to eat healthy instead of garbage food and whole foods are already very expensive I feel I can post it here and because I’m pissed. So it seems according to Apple News that the Loblaws Corporation ( this is the largest Canadian grocery chain in Canada) has decided to no longer offer any discounts on “ Eat Today Products” or “close to expiration date foods”
They would rather throw it away than offer a discount on vegetables and meat protein
In this time of crazy food inflation and food insecurity for many people mostly seniors and lower income some base their meal plans on these sales to feed their families.
Loblaws has not answered to the reasoning of this new policy in their grocery chain but I’m thinking it’s just corporate greed.
This company has had record profits in the last 3 years and are building a 1 million sq ft distribution centre north of Toronto at who knows what cost, and yet they would rather throw food away. This is disgraceful and unacceptable.
I will no longer be patronizing Loblaws, No Frills, Zehrs or any other Loblaws owned store. I will spend my food dollars elsewhere and hope my Cannadian FS friend will too .
Thanks for reading
Ken
