ICK! That's the only way to describe everything right now. It started out with last Thursday. This snow is ruining me. This snow and winter is getting ridiculous. We are having major snowstorms every few days now. My husband has been snow plowing and that throws me way off, fills me with rage and then I want to get drunk and eat. I was doing so well. Then this goddam 4 day binge happened all because of the snow and my emotions. It's not fair.

Now today, I am feeling extremely horrible, bloated, the husbadn and I are fighting, I only had about 2 hours sleep last night. It's 8:00 in the morning and I'm starving, my dreaded dentist appt is this afternoon, I am buried in work that needs to be done by Wed night and to top it ALL off, the weather is still horrible, snowy and gloomy.

But At least I'm definitely back on track with my diet, at least for today. I will not be able to work out this week because of work, but at least I will not binge. I am scared to death to weigh myself. I'm sure I've gained back the 3 lbs it took me a week and a half to lose. This sucks. It's not fair. I need some real help here.

oh Stephanie - I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. This is when I think it helps to think of the long term journey that we are on. We're not on a diet - we are changing our lifestyle. There will always be blips some beyond our control and some not, it doesn't matter. What matters is doing the best that we can under the circumstances we find ourselves. Don't be hard on yourself. Just dust yourself down and take the next step in your healthier life journey. You'll be fine :)

Set backs happen. That is why I think it is important to find the tools to help us get through our "trigger" situations without a lot of collateral damage. We need to analyze our binges and try to find ways to short circuit them before they become full blown situations. They say that the best way to kick a habit is to replace it with another, more healthy and positive habit. So try to find something that you can do to replace the eating that will produce a similar effect. If the eating calms your nerves, find something else that calms your nerves (and, uggghhh! yes, exercise does calm our nerves!). Or if you eat out of boredom, find something that you can do to occupy your time that is of interest but doesn't involve food (a hobby, reading a book, etc.) None of this is easy, I know. But that is what we have to do if we are going to "kick the habit" for good! AT least we aren't alone. Everyone here understands what you are going through. We realize we are all fighting the same battles. And there is strength in numbers! Stick with it. Keep starting over. Eventually the progress will overtake the set backs. It can be done. Just don't allow yourself the option of giving up.

I'm sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Hang in there and try to learn from your mistakes. It's hard with the weather being so bad, it affects a lot of people. Try to recognize it and find some ways to counteract it. Take care.
