flaxseed's Journal, 06 Apr 10

Wow! This has been a week of wild swings. Apart from the day I got gated by a fallen tree its been non stop visiting. OH is home now and the bladder op and the liver biopsy are done and out of the way. He's a bit bruised and battered but getting over it. Life never seems to get any easier -my youngest granddaughter Lucy has been registered as blind this week. She was to have a corneal transplant but they wouldn't do it as the risk was far too high. She has a condition called Kerataconus and suffers from CFS. I feel so sorry for her as she is in a wheelchair and cannot get about easily and now she has almost no sight keeping her occupied is hard and is going to be even worse now. I'm looking at computer equipment for non sighted people at the moment as she cannot use her laptop with any accuracy at the moment. I keep thinking about the things she won't ever be able to do like driving and what sort of work will she be able to do when she gets well again and then I swing to thinking that at least its not life threatening. Oh my poor brain!

I'm not going to mention eating or numbers - I've been swinging wildly from one extreme to the other.

The weather has been reflecting my moods too, wild, wet and windy.

I've just got to get off this swing. Its hard to be positive when the world seems to throw nothing but bricks in your direction and then I remember you can build houses and walls with bricks......so here I go building my house

So sorry about your granddaughter. Life can be so tough sometimes. You are right at least it is not life threatening and she will learn to survive with it. What a shame. You have had it tough. It is hard to be positive but try to take one thing everyday and try to be positive. That is what I am doing and it seems to help.

I am glad OH made it through last week and is healing. I am so sorry to hear about Lucy. I understand that it is difficult to look at the "bright side" when the darkness seems to follow and envelope us! Believe me, I do! Since you are having trouble with that may I offer the following: While Lucy will have much to overcome she is blessed to be living in an era that has produced treatment and technologies that will help her in so many ways. She has the blessings of her family and especially her wonderful, loving and supportive grandmother. {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}

AW Flaxseed ... my heart feels for you!! So sorry about Lucy's prognosis but indeed ... who knows what doors may open for her in the future ... still so difficult to accept, especially for those who love and adore her. I'm glad OH is healing up and back home. It is understandable why you have been experiencing "wild swings" ... there has been so much on your plate. Indeed, life is difficult and things just keep on happening. Know you are loved and supported from a far ... I'm going to send you some tropical healing feelings from Mexico!!! Take care my friend.

Glad to hear OH is on the mend, but sorry about Lucy! I agree with Dawn, though, about all the treatment and technology available these days! Lucy has a lot going for her (including a loving grandma)! Hang in there, and build those walls! (((((((((hugs)))))))))
