RoseFlorida's Journal, 16 Mar 18

I just finished some late night gardening. (Almost 9 p.m. here) My lemon tree is doing so well. I brought it in September or so and it's already flowering and grown over a foot so far. My red navel tree I just got is doing great after transplanting. Whew, I want fruit next year from it. Those are my 2 high carb plants but they are so pretty and can be container grown for now. My kale is awesome, I have been picking it for a while now. My pots/planters for my spaghetti squash finally arrived today. In a week I will move my seedlings in. My tomato planters (barrel planters)came in today also. Yay, my seedlings have been ready for 2 weeks but no place to put them. I'll harden them off this week also. Hopefully it will warm up enough for my pole beans and peppers to take off. My cucumbers are doing alright so far but I wasn't expecting the cold snap we had in Florida or I would have waited a week or two. Low carb can be expensive so by going my own veggies and herbs I can save some money (ha-ha the 1st year is expensive) but also so I know what I'm eating. I'm using non-gmo seeds and most are heirlooms like my Oaxacan pink tomatoes. I can't wait. It's been relaxing me so hopefully my bp will continue to go down.

That sounds wonderful. I greatly respect gardeners. It's a lost art I'm afraid.

I love gardening! Are the Oaxacan tomatoes the sort of ruffly ones? I keep planting perennial edibled like currents and gooseberries, both native.

They are slightly ruffled/ribbed, some more than others. It's my first time growing them so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed they grow. It's also my first time gardening in a long time. Mostly containers and a few raised beds. Wine boxes are also in use (and so pretty)

I love gardening, but I plant too many tomatoes. This year I plan to make sweet green tomato relish so I will use all my tomatoes that way. I love the relish, but never made it before.
