mariposamour's Journal, 22 May 12

Yesterday I had granola w/ almond milk, an apple, water, nuts, a piece of toast, and an amazing stir fry (veggies w/ tofu), and I ran for 45 minutes. Why the shit am I not losing weight? Gonna try doing exercises aside from cardio today.

It just gets so frustrating to be doing more work yet gaining more weight. I take photos of my body naked to see my progress, and I don't see much of a difference. I know I'm getting 'curvier' but my body fat is still here. I analyze my body and it freaks me out because I know I'm not happy with it. Ugh.

One of those days.

Edit: Ok, I'm back down again (161.2, my lowest was 160 a month ago) but my goal for the end of May was 153 (I think) so I'm frustrating b/c it could go back up again. Ugh. I'm gonna try eating less carbs.

You've probably heard this before, but if you're not seeing a difference on the scale and you have started adding exercise to your daily life, it could be that your fat is converting to muscle - good luck! If you're getting "curvier" that's always a plus!!! you can do it!

when i was a hard core vegan in my early 20's i weighed as much as i did in high school, my peak weight. i think it was because i ate so many carbs. not the right kind of carbs, like fruit & veg, but lotsa pasta, cereal, bread, etc. in my mid 20's i lost a lotta weight doing yoga 3x/wk, while remaining a vegetarian, but eating a more balanced diet. you're so young, it could be "baby fat". i didn't slim down 'til my mid 20's, lost the chubby cheeks n curves of adolescence. supposedly your body's metabolism changes every 7 yearsish. don't get discouraged. i've started exercising a lot, and it makes me feel great. in the past 45 days, i've lost 15#, and am about 5# away from my goal! the exercise, eating lotsa fruit n veg, and logging my food has made a huge difference. while protein intake is important, i feel that the vegan diet can provide sufficient amounts of protein easily through thoughtful food combinations & eating whole foods. don't sweat it, keep workin' it, grrrl!

I agree. Somedays i wake up and think i look great and other days i am disgusted. Just keep working for it. That's all we can do.

The best thing you can do is log everything you eat to get a true idea of what is going on. In the end the number on the scale does not matter, t is what you see when you look at yourself that is important but those numbers help us understand if we are moving in the right direction.
