Lhill928's Journal, 31 Jan 18

Here we are at the last of January in 2018...2018?! It's been way too long since I logged or even visited Fat Secret and that is just not going to happen anymore. Those who have followed me since the beginning, know my struggle... I have not been able to find a balance which would cause me to consistently lose weight. I've given up several times in a "what's the point" move and today, I am NOT happy. While I am generally healthy despite my size, I know I can be better.

So, here's an update, followed by a plan to make that happen. I started out great. My daughter bought me a Happy Planner in 2016, which I later added fitness pages to. I tracked everything there, but somewhere along the way, I stopped. I'm not sure why, but the summer of 2017 was not kind and with birthday parties, a wedding, family get-togethers etc. I was not even paying attention to what I was putting into my body. By the end of the year, I wasn't doing anything even remotely healthy. I stopped working out, I ate what I want, when I wanted (part of my "what's the point" attitude) and I gained weight. It's not significant in relation to my clothes and/or "looks" but seeing THAT number is scary. Its what I weighed six years ago when I first decided I needed to make a change.

January was supposed to be my reboot! So, I made a few changes and have been on a mostly plant-based diet for the past two weeks (see pic below of my favorite meal I've made so far - Buddha Bowl, which I made using my Veggie Bullet which I received as a gift from the friend who is the reason I started the plant-based diet. However, I noticed that I haven't lost anything, I even gained a couple pounds, which I attribute to the increase in carbs. I'm not ready to give up cheese, and I know that is a factor as well. I realized that just because its plant-based, doesn't mean you shouldn't still practice portion control. So, in line with my previous 21-day fix plan, I will once again be measuring my food and log everything here to make sure I am keeping up with my portions as they should be.

Today is a new DAY, tomorrow is a new MONTH and this is my YEAR! No more excuses and I WILL make myself accountable.

Good for you for recommitting to your eating plan and for logging everything. That takes a lot of time! I see you mention all the activities that were hard to go to and keep on track (weddings, etc). Unfortunately, that will always be the case. We all have that particular problem and challenge, that's for sure! Try to look at it as a challenge that "nothing will get in your way"! NOTHING will stop you! I hope everything works out this year.

Thank you so much, Shelly. I was in denial that nothing I did would make a difference. I was wrong and I'm determined to make a change. Posting here definitely helps and I'm happy to have the support of others on their own journey as well.
