im thinking about trying the Dukan Diet. have heard alot of praise about it. Im a big believer in cutting carbs for weight loss so this seems to suit my kind of thinking.

Any of you tried it or doing it?
im desperate for something new. fresh starts :)

did it for 5 days last fall as a quick way to drop water weight. that's all it is. yep, you can lose 5lbs in 5 days, but it will come right back. i didn't stick with it.

I'm in the middle of trying it right now. It is definitely effective for rapid weight loss in the beginning. I was bouncing between 166 and 170 for a long time, and I started the attack phase sort-of last Thursday and officially last Friday. Even though I 'cheated' on the attack phase and had a couple big bowls of lettuce over the weekend, I'm down to a steady 163/164 for the last day or two. It might be all water weight, as Jess commented, but it was definitely the psychological boost I needed. I'm sure if I went out and had a big helping of carbs, the weight would come back, but so far I've been really good about not falling off the wagon. I think whether you do it or not will depend on whether you are looking to stick to the diet all the way to consolidation/stabilization so you can cement the weight loss, or if you are going to stop after attack and gain back the water weight.

Just an update - I'm down 7 lbs since officially starting the dukan diet 2 weeks ago, despite days where I definitely cheated over a holiday weekend (had some beer and ice cream). As long as I get back on track after a splurge like that, the weight seems to keep coming off :) I lost more in the past two weeks than I had in the previous month+ (7lbs vs 5lbs, respectively). I would definitely recommend it!

Oh that’s awesome! Cheers for the update! I bought the book and am on my very 1st day of attack phase today!! Had eggs for breakfast and got meat for lunch and tea! I am a real believer of cutting carbs and processed foods to lose weight. Ill let u know how much I lose in the next 5 days of attack!
