Ok everyone I need some advice from my buddies. How many use a food scale to measure the amount of food they eat daily, if so, advice on type, brand and best places to purchase.
Does everyone cook on the weekends and prepare their choice of meat (steak, chicken, turkey) then it's already cooked & ready to eat throughout the week ?
Looking for any tips to get myself more disciplined eating thru the week. DH does most of the cooking in our house, but he's not to blame, I'm the one putting the food in my mouth, and I like quick, easy meals or foods that are handy to prepare, call me lazy :(
Any suggestions, advice would be appreciated, thanks !!!

I weigh everything except my meat. I kind of eyeball that or go by the weight on the package and divide by how many servings. I use a small digital scale that I found at Walgreens of all places. It was only $10 and works very well. I don't cook far ahead too much. I usually cook enough for dinner to have leftovers for lunch the next day. I do boil eggs ahead for the whole week. I pay a little more for it but I also use the prepackaged salad mixes. Saves me a lot of prep time as I can throw together a salad in minutes. Since your hubby does most of the cooking, just ask that he put some meat from the dish aside. For instance if he is making spaghetti, he can take some of the meat and make you a patty or two. Throw in a salad and a side of steamed veggies and you are set!

I'd love to have things fresh every day, but if something's not ready, that's a "trigger situation" for me. DH and I USED TO go to BK, get a pizza, hit the Chinese buffet, etc. a LOT whenever something wasn't ready and it was mealtime. So, that's a situation I try to avoid. Meat is usually cooked ahead for several days. It may not quite cover a full week, but at least half the week. Salad greens are bought in bulk, washed and put into large containers, so doing up a salad just requires tearing up already-cleaned greens and cutting up some slices of cucumbers. It still turns out to be more prep for each meal than I'd like, but at least it saves me from being tempted to go out and grab fast food. Hard-boiled eggs are always done up, about 4-6 at a time. DH also pre-packs all his work breakfasts and lunches, so he just grabs the 2-3 containers on the way out the door.

Oh, and as far as the food scale...we just ordered a new digital one after dropping the mechanical one on the floor (pieces flew off everywhere)...cost about $20...large base and "tare" feature....hand-washable. I also have an all-in-one digital measuring cup/scale...I think it was about $30 from a kitchen specialty place in a mall.
