DH has recommended that I try a ketosis diet. I am somewhat wary of this because I think it would be quite hard for me. I love fruit and am meh on vegetables. I will eat vegetables, but mostly if they are steamed or roasted. Not a fan of the leafy greens on their own. I like baby spinach with dressing or fruit and nuts, or cottage cheese and hard boiled eggs. I made some berry slaw yesterday which was good, though it didn't last long. (Hubby ate most of it. :P) I have some carrot curry soup that I made as well that I might be able to eat. Perhaps that might be good for this new WOE. (It's basically carrots boiled in broth and curry powder, pureed and then mixed with coconut milk. Yum!)

Besides fruit, something else that will make this challenging is that I like bread, grains, and beans. It's gotten a little easier because DH doesn't let me buy that stuff really when we go grocery shopping, also Passover is coming so the weekly bagel extravaganza at oneg (post service brunch at my place of worship) won't be there this week because they have leaven. I still miss it and somewhat crave it, especially really naughty food like macaroni and cheese which I have loved since I was a kid and am quite capable of inhaling large quantities of in a short amount of time.

Perhaps it might not be so bad once I can get into it. I saw a recipe for breadless pizza yesterday that looked AWESOME. I really enjoy cheese, so it will be nice to have more of that. The one major drawback to this though is that it's much more expensive to rely on meat and vegetables as staples for eating instead of grains, beans and other starchy foods. Again, it's a good thing that it's gardening season. The seeds that I ordered should hopefully come today! YAY! Providing that I can actually make this garden venture profitable, that and the CSA we signed up for should help offset the cost of this WOE. L'chaim! (To life!) Thank G-d that I am blessed to live in a nation where all of this is possible and I am free to worship Him as well!

Yes, thank the Lord! Almost all of us like bread, grains, starchy vegetables and fruits. That's what got most of us in this position in the first place. It's a matter of choices. I can advise this, if you're heart is not really in it this WOE might seem like torture, like you're being deprived all the time. Most people who start a low carb or ketosis inducing WOE without a true commitment to changing their lives eventually begin to lean on artificial forms of the sweets they loved or finding replacements for the foods they loved, then begin adding a bit of the real thing, until eventually the cravings for those carbs, which will increase, overwhelms their commitment to the WOE and they will stop--usually with a rebound in weight gain that goes even beyond what they weighed to begin with. Also, this WOE isn't more expensive if you keep your purchases limited to what's in line with the diet and don't spend a lot on substitutes for the high carb foods you enjoyed before or preprocessed prepackaged low GI or low carb foods, which can get very expensive. In fact if you stick with it you'll find your pantry isn't so packed with grain based or sugar based products and your fridge and freezer are filled with items that you'll consume quickly because they are fresh. Praying you continue to succeed no matter which WOE you choose.

Ha! :) I'm not sure they're so encouraging. Just wanted to help you see what you might be getting into.
