I do not have high blood pressure, it is spot on the perfect mark. So why would the cardiologist want to put me on blood pressure lowering medication? Especially when I advised him that one pill have me collapsed on the floor when they tried that in hospital?
I do not have a fast pulse. So why would the cardiologist want me to go onto beta blockers when the minimum introductory dose caused me heart pain and one tablet of the half way dose (given because the 1.25mg can't possibly be doing anything at all) had me in Bradycardia all night long.
I bruise (like a ripe peach dahling) when I take aspirin, but to quote the cardiologist "Aspirin doesn't make you bleed"
Oh. Really?
You need to take statins to reduce your cholesterol, the cardiologist says. But my ratio is good, my HDL good I say. So that's ok, isn't it? Ah, but it is not about the cholesterol, says the wise man. Er,but you just said. .... Why take a cholesterol lowering drug if not to lower the cholesterol?
Statins give me cramps, I said. After three tablets I couldn't move my hands or feet without going into cramp. As a result my original cardiologist said I didn't need statins, so could do without if I didn't get on with them.
Oh, statins don't cause cramps, he says. Even I get cramps, he says.
Funny that. Reading the side effects on the box of pills, the most common side effect, and it is very common, is - er - cramps.
Oh yes, I get it, we are not supposed to read the patient leaflets, or understand what they are saying to us or question them, doubt their gospel word in any way. Of course, it makes sense now.
I am obviously waaay dumber than even I realised.
Rant over. If only a good rant would make my skin baggier. Life would be so much easier. Sigh.
