SLLockhart's Journal, 17 Jul 17

Well today I ate 100% of my calories. The first time, since being here.
I did eat a lot today, at least I feel like I did.
I am feeling better, so maybe I am not eating enough daily to keep up my goals? Just a thought, but I guess it could be most of my problems with feeling bad?
Anyway, I am happy to be on target not over the limit, and not under, but right one.
I will begin to do my Yoga again tomorrow if I feel better, and from the way I feel right now, I am going to feel better tomorrow.
I will wait to see, but my plan is to feel good enough to do my Yoga at least.
Onward and Downward!!!

I am a newbie to yoga but I am loving it. It seems to help with daily aches and pains. Currently doing a 30 day challenge with Adriene. She really makes it fun :)

I really miss my daily 10 minute power yoga seshs with Barbara Currie but am still suffering with this blasted rib baloney. The flexibility verve it gives you Schmetter is amazing; just wait until you can see the bottom of the door easily for the first time when bending the wrong way, it'll make you grin for hours :)

AND verve, not sure what flexible verve would be . . .

LOL StrangeTrout, that is funny! I have always been able to see the bottom of the door, only not ever the wrong way, I have never been that flexible, don't expect to be in this lifetime either. Hope you Rib Baloney, gets better. lol

It's amazing what you can achieve after a few weeks of yoga SLL, the bottom of the door is not that far away . . .

Very common mistake not eating enough...many folks are conditioned to believe that you need to starve yourself to lose excess weight, and take on some low cal regime or some mad ass new fangled diet where you can lose 15 stone in a day, which is great for a short time, usually 1-14 days and then stops working, partly because you are by now on the verge of actually feeling like you are starving so lose all mental positivity and the will to continue, and your body is, by week 2 in preparation for a full blown famine mode episode...Remember too, just because we feel hungry does not mean we are hungry, it is in part a psychological thing and one of the issues we need to work on is our 'greedy head' and changing your relationship with food...Your body is very 'clever' it knows you are not getting enough x y or z and slows down your metabolic rate to reserve stores and then when you do eat a 'good' amount it will have been pre programmed to store it, so you do not starve and die out...clever that evolutionary switch thing...that's the problem with trying to trick your body into weight loss, even inadvertently, it usually backfires...just relax a little, aim for your RDI, some days you will naturally be under, others you will hit it, others you will go over, do not worry too much about it, what matters is the week, the month, quarter and year, as long as you consistently take in less than you expend you will lose weight and don't forget to recalc your RDI as you lose more weight.

Misterbee, you are so right. I know this but sometimes when I am working hard to lose, I do just exactly what you said. I am working harder to get the right amount of calories and exercise too. Some days it works, and some days, well, I go way over/under what I need to survive. I am not really doing a real diet, but am working on making my food choices a way of life. Some days go better than others. Thanks for your input!!! I appreciate it and love reading all the comments on my journey/journal. Thanks all who comment!!!!

@ 'I am not really doing a real diet' Good, 'diets' as we understand from a weight loss point of view, are crap and will almost always end in failure because they fail to address the real issue, your relationship with food and how you deal with it...Just aim for your RDI, over the week or fortnight it will average out...as long as some days you are under, other days on par and not too many days over...

Yes, that is my aim in this new journey Mistebee. I do appreciate your input. I do aim for just what you describe and will continue to come back here daily and log in, log my weight/exercise/foods daily. I know this is a journey that I must be doing for a healthier life and lifestyle too. Thanks again!!!!

Misterbee you have exactly the same view on this as I do and it's the only sane way to go! My problem has never been eating the wrong stuff, it's always been eating too much and not doing enough exercise. This site is marvellous in that it gives every view point and so one can start to see one's behaviour from other angles and, quite naturally, I have tweaked here and crimped there and I have found a diet and exercise routine that suits me and is resulting in the much longed for weight loss. I had a blip over Christmas followed by illness so I am six months out-of-step with my plan, but I realise this was pretty much unavoidable and everyone here has been so lovely and supportive I haven't stressed out about it. SLL you must always do what is right for you, don't think you will have all the answers immediately and realise it is a long process and you'll be fine. Expect the odd blip, I actually think the wagon fall is a good thing - I have one night a week to indulge and it keeps me on track the rest of the week, but this may not work for you. Pick and choose and above all have fun!

Thank you all for these wonderful comments. I agree with you StrangeTrout. I can not expect my life to be a straight line every day. I must accept the difference and if it all goes to "hell in a hand basket" today, that is just today. My whole life is not dependent on what I did yesterday. I must allow my inner self to realize that life isn't going to be straight every day, all day, without glitches and if I have a glitch, I don't have to allow it to ruin the whole process of leading a better life, thru eating right. Thanks again Y'all!!!

I agree SLL, do not let what you did or did not do yesterday, choke today's efforts...Life is fluid, and when we accept this fact, our attitudes change for the better...

Definitely a case of learn from the bad and celebrate the good, not sulk about the bad and wish the good were better. MrB & ST have it down to a T!
