Slipped up last night ~ I made Jambolaya for the family and I had a Lean Cusine Dinner. The aroma made me drool lol ~ but I stayed strong, at first, then everybody went to bed and I stayed up to watch the State of Union address the pres. gave ~ fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up the smell of the Jambolaya lured me into the kitchen where I then gave into my cravings and really went to town :(
I feel bad that I am already cheating since it's just a week that I started on here. I need to forgive myself and learn from my mistake ~ I need to GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN !!!

Never let a slip get you down. Just remind yourself that you ARE still changing the way you eat and live. Also before cooking, eat something with some good fat and lots of fiber (celery stalk with a tablespoon of good natural peanut butter is a good fast one) that will help satiate you after cooking is done. Also, try to start cooking lighter meals for everyone in the family, maybe just use different proteins if someone is too picky or a vegetable side or salad that will let you have a full meal not just a lean cuisine...

Thank you for your support! You have some really good advice. Will be more gentle with myself - I get impatient which doesn't help. I have soooooo much weight to lose and I try to go in 5 % bodyweight increments so it's not so discouraging.

The way I figure it is this: I'm going to try and eat like the person I WANT to be and see where it takes me. I take a mish mash of friends and people I work with and note their activity level and their diet and think "is that what I want to be?" So I'm not setting serious goals other than eat food I can live with forever but is still healthy and to be more and more active as my weight settle in. I am tracking food as I go, luckily I can do it on my phone, it REALLY helps to keep a running calorie count when I am short for the day I think... hmmm it seems like a good day for 1 serving of ice cream. When I am high on calories or fat after lunch, I let that affect the way I cook dinner for the night: i use less oil and more onions or garlic or tomato paste or some other non fat or lower calorie option, or I leave the cheese crumbles out of my salad or the butter off of my carrots, but I replace the fat with a sprinkle of ginger or garlic or italian seasoning or a splash of vinegar or somthing with a nice strong flavor. I am trying to give myself one free day every week or so. That lets my body remember that it is NOT a famine and it doesn't have to store EVERY ounce of fat I eat. If I slip really badly (more than about 500 calories over) during the week I try to skip or go easy on the free day. that free day is my release valve though :)
