I never realized that a packed of oatmeal, a packed of Buddig sandwich meat, and a piece of cheese could be so satisfying. The packed of oatmeal was stupid with carbs but I probably shouldn't have bought flavored. I just need to get through until September 7th when I can stock up on foods suitable for a lower carb eating plan. I'm going to use my Atkins cookbook and Suger Busters book until I can find more info on Paleo. Online info sucks for Paleo. I will have to break down and get a book. Basically, I need to cut carbs, my protein is good but I want to increase it. Fat I'm not really to worry about. Just Sat Fat which is the thing that affects cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol is actually meaningless. It is not the type of cholesterol that ends up clogging up your arteries. Funny how that works.

Sat fat does NOT affect cholesterol. The so called 'healthy' vegetable and seed oils do! Google it. There is a lot of corroborating information.

According to my doctor, the saturated fat is what raises cholesterol.

He's working on outdated research.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound argumentative, or rude. I will post some links so you can ask your doc about it.

If you grab the Quaker Instant Original Oatmeal, it has no sugar. Still carbs. I add oat bran and flax seeds and blueberries and end up with my morning power breakfast that packs a lot of fiber.

Kristy, those of us who eat a very high fat diet with lots of bacon and butter and very low carbs regularly wow our doctors with improved and stellar blood lipid tests (cholesterol). My doctor is very enthusiastic about this diet approach and practices it himself for health and longevity, even though he's thin. It's a true paradigm shift in the medical community. Some doctors embrace it and some still stand by the older research.
