Jocko it is sad to see an 'old friend' go.
I had an old car. It was a Vauxhall Astra Estate. I had it for almost 20 years. I loved it but it 'died' about 3 years ago. It was a sad day. But in it's place I got a Hyundi Matrix. It was wonderful having an air conditioned car,I never knew what I had been missing all these years. A wonderful little car.

I've gone the other way. The Volvo S40 has A/C and the new one doesn't. Not only does it have A/C but it is unusual in it has a sunroof. You normally get one or the other. I also love the Automatic and I am taking ill out with the manual box. Got my personalised plates swapped over this morning, so I'll maybe get her on Gumtree for the weekend.

Oh Jocko I can see why you are sad letting your Volvo go- it looks like a cracker! and I am sure was a dream to drive. What is your personalized plate?
Good luck with your fasting day- and try and keep warm - Brrr wow that is low for August even for Canada - lol

It's a shame you don't love your new car, Jocko. I hope the day has warmed up a bit for you now. It was noticeably chilly here this morning but nowhere near zero!

Plate is J10CKO. It is not that cold here, but in the central glens the temperature can drop really low.

The best laid plans as they say. I was going to have a curry for dinner, but then my wife said, "I put a Quiche in the oven, do you want some?". I looked at the label and decided I could have half, instead of my curry. Unfortunately, as I was just about to finish, she says "I cannot eat any more. Would you like to finish this?". That's like saying to a child, "I have all these sweets left. Would you like to eat them?". The outcome of it all is, instead of 600 - 700 Kcals, I am now almost up to 1000.

Well, still not bad. Just don't think "well I've blown it now" and go and eat a load! You'll be OK.

Sorry about the loss of car Jocko!
Maybe you could speak with your wife about not offering you food? Me and my hubby try and remember not to offer each other and it sort puts you more in control of what you are eating?

I am the same way Jocko...I get very attached to my cars too. Everyone keeps telling me that I need to get a newer one, but she has been loyal to me and I am loyal to her. I know her quirks and she knows mine. It is hard to end those types of relationships! LOL. Love your personalized plates!

I keep telling her not to tempt me. I tell her just to take it through into the kitchen and put it in the bin. It is the same with sweets or biscuits. I keep saying I won't feel she is antisocial if she goes and gets one for herself and doesn't offer one to me. I am big enough to go and help myself, if I really feel the need.

I have the same problem with my mum, I will come home and find baking or cheesecake in the kitchen, I explained I have to try to fit it into my calorie intake and that she should give me the opportunity to say no (especially if it cannot be portioned and frozen) I sometimes think we have to reset our friends and families habits as well as our own which, I find, is easier said than done and stresses me out.

Eventually you have to accept full responsibility for what you're putting in your mouth, I'm afraid. Sounds harsh but it's the truth.

That I know very well. Today went pear shaped as well but at least it was all my own doing.
