Weight up again this morning (not surprising after a lovely lunch and obscene amounts of ice cream to follow), however today is back on the wagon day. Yesterday I had no painkillers at all, and this morning I went for my morning constitutional (the first time in 7 weeks). Didn't go very far, but I am trying to get back into my old routine. When I see the surgeon, next week, I will ask if I can resume cycling.
I did a rather silly thing yesterday. We took delivery of 3 bags of cat litter, each weighing 40 lbs/18.2 Kg. We keep them upstairs, in the spare room, but I couldn't have my wife struggling to take them up. So I did. To save my stomach muscles I lifted then with the one hand and carried them up. My stomach felt fine. The problem is!!! This morning my lower back and knees are giving me gyp. It is amazing how much weaker you are after being housebound for 6 weeks.
(For the benefit of none UK buddies, gyp - which means to cheat - is also used here to mean giving grief.)

How many cats have you got, Jocko? Sounds like an awful lot of litter! I often have problems with my lower back and knees so can sympathise. The good thing is I'm sure they'll soon recover after doing something like that. Glad you're beginning to get back into your normal routine. You sound well on the mend. Have a good day.

Thanks. We only have one cat at present, and a kitten coming at the beginning of the month. Pets at Home sell three bags at a discount, and ordering online means the carrier brings them up the 48 stairs from the road! "I'm no daft" as they say here.

I need to get back on the waggon with you lol. I had a pig out last night and it showed this morning.

I want a cat so badly, but I recently found out that one of my dogs is highly allergic to them (along with about 20 other things). He already has to take weekly allergy shots, so it looks like there are no cats in my future. No painkillers really shows your progress, Jocko. Take it easy and try not to overdo it. :)

Thanks for everyone's concern. I try to be sensible, but I am a man so that isn't easy!

What colour will your new kitty be, Jocko? I'm a crazy cat lady myself. I only have one tabby, but he prefers to be the only one. My two sons have three cats between them - mainly black. They're all gorgeous.
