fridgepig's Journal, 09 Jul 16

Well yesterday was a hard day climb to the top of a local hill called Cheviot, carry around 5kg in my backpack........taking 2litres of water and healthy walking food......see my food diary. Started walk at 2pm and got back to car at 10.30......SHATTERED!!!!! Total distance walk 14km on quite tough terrain.....I walked very slow because I am carrying the extra 40+ kg.

Just weighed in 144.8kg....thats a 1.7kg loss........this is my third day of being good.....just fruit and veg with a small amount of meet. Its 8.06am sipping a cup of tea......then a mean green juice (my little secret pure goodness is a glass) hope I can keep this up as my challenge starts on Monday.

Well done on your walk! It does sound tough indeed. And the weight loss sounds good, BUT I'm afraid to say that it's unlikely it was all fast loss - probably some fat, but mostly glycogen reserves that you burnt off and some water that is stored with the glycogen. I also wonder whether you are eating enough? To keep losing weight long-term, you need a way of eating that you can really stick with for good, and aim to lose a steady 1/2 to 1kg of fat per week. Rapid dieting tends to lead to cravings and frequent 'falling off the wagon', and the weight you have quickly lost is also quickly regained. Sorry, I don't mean to lecture, although it may sound that way, just want to help. Anyway well done again, I bet you really enjoyed it!
