I saw my doctor about a week ago for the results of some more blood work. I have now moved into the diabetic stage.:( Plus I have severe fatty liver (have known this for awhile now). She wants me to consider weight loss surgery. I had a hard time recovering from my 3 c-sections, so I don't think it's a good idea, but will go to the seminar in Denver (3 hours away) on July 20th & at least listen to what they have to say. In the meantime, I have started counting calories which is depressing as hell. I usually just try to watch carbs (which isn't easy either), but damn...who knew that I was eating so many calories?? Around 3,000 or so a day!! Usually a little higher than that. I'm supposed to cut down to 2600 to lose a pound a week or so it says on here. I want to lose more than that a week, so won't eat have 2600. I have been drinking more water. I have also started exercising again to an aerobics video that I found on YouTube. It seriously kicks my ass. It's high impact aerobics & I do it for an hour a day. Yep, shocked the hell out of me too that I'm able to do that. I was doing 30 minutes a day, but decided a couple of days ago to try for the hour & was able to do it & then did it again yesterday. Going to do it again in a few when I'm done here. Though I really don't feel like it today.:( I'm tired. But I know that it's something I need to do. My highest weight was a few years ago...was around 350. I couldn't fit into anything & looked horrible. I was able to get down to around 290, stayed there for awhile, but then got back up to 323.:/ I have lost a few pounds, but have a long way to go.

Sorry, you guys know, me. I am not going to dance with people about their health. Its stupid. And also a bit disrespectful. If people don't like my advice, hey don't listen to me. I only work in on and off mode. The passion I have is for people to live, and be healthy. This isn't about feelings yall.

I use you tube too, I'm looking into the low carb vegetarian lifestyles as well to help with healing all the fatty liver damages.

I think everyone needs to do their own research, but all the hints and tips above are certainly a good starting point. I also recommend you go to Philmck's journal and read his tale of success -- I really consider him our "poster child" of weight loss, although others have had similar success. At any rate, if you have questions or need further encouragement, please post here -- there are many who will be willing to support you!

Listen to Knuckles, he knows what he's talking about. I don't get why anyone would consider weight loss surgery, honestly, you STILL have to change your diet, and you can do that without getting carved on. As for people that take issue with LCHF, I don't pay them any attention; it takes DISCIPLINE, DESIRE, and COMMITMENT to do what we do, something they either don't have, haven't tried, or tried and failed at, and I really don't care which and I've heard it all. I ask people, "what foods are you willing to give up to reach your goals?", if their answer isn't along the lines of, "ANYTHING and/or EVERYTHING!", I don't waste my time, they can go climb the Food Pyramid and count calories until they're blue in the face, enjoy that pet food/treat, and keep scratching your head wondering why ya can't reach your goals.

Just a suggestion, but go to intensivedietarymanagement.com and watch some of Dr. Jason Fung's lectures. You might want to try intermittent fasting before you go for the surgery. I'm no expert and certainly no doctor but Dr. Fung's approach and the LCHF just makes sense to me. I've only been on the system for a short while, but I know that while I have a good deal of weight to lose, I do feel so much better.

I started with Fatsecret after my sister in law lost about 6 kilo's recently. I myself have done (twice) the Metabolic Balance diet which worked extremely well (every time lost about 9 kilo's in 2 month time), but I just could not keep up with it and there were a few very nice vegetables which I was not allowed to eat!. So with this FS program, I have already lost almost 3 kilo's since I started on the 24th of June. I lowered (on purpose) my intake from 1600 to 1300 calories per day and so far it does the trick and I am not hungry. It is fun to look at the total and see I can still take a small chocolate or something sweet to finish off the day. It works for me. Still 2 Kilo's to go until I weigh 70 Kilo's and after that I will try to go down till 67. My whole life, until I was 45 I weighed 60 Kilo's and could eat anything. Never had to diet, but the menopause and a very big operation changed everything because after that, I could not do the exercises anymore I did before (fitness training with weights) and of course I started to gain weight. At 76 Kilo's I decided to do something about it (because my back started to cause me problems) and following FS I now am 73.4. I am happy and hope to get at 70 kilo's in about 3 weeks.
