kristy1121's Journal, 26 Oct 11

Morning all! I am so excited for tomorrow, can't wait to weigh in. I don't care what the scale says, my jeans aren't tight today - the way they were on Saturday. I went to the gym 2 times this week so far, and I'm definitely going tonight too.
Friday is going to be a little tricky. It won't be the normal routine, since I took the day off. My mother and I are heading out to do some Christmas shopping and probably get lunch too. I'll be ok, since I'm prepared and I know if I can't find anything on the menu that looks safe (I'm so done with salads) I'll get an omelette with some veggies and sausage. Hope all of you are having a great day!

I'm excited to spend some time with her. We don't get to spend much time together, just the two of us. Whenever we get together it's always very hectic with kids, dogs, husbands! LOL 20 years ago, a day with my mother would not have sounded like such a good time... Time sure changes things!

I know what you mean, before mine moved away it wasn't such a big deal...now I am hoping and praying she has enough money to come down for Christmas. She lives over 3 hours away.

Enjoy the time you have with your mom while you have it. Sometimes we get so busy with our lives that we never have enough time with them. Its great you have that strong relationship with her now.

I hope so too. The holidays are hard to get through, when you don't have your family there. Afterall, it's not about the presents and the tree, it's really all about the people you spend it with.

I do hold our relationship very close to my heart. We had a rocky time when I went through my teens and early twenties, I think that happens with many mother/daughter relationships. For the last 10 years, I consider her my very best friend. Cheers to all the moms out there! Much love!!

I'm still in that early 20's age and my Mom and I have had many fights but in 2009 we found out she had cancer...they supposedly got it all, and she had a heart attack and a knee replacement basically all at the same time. It scared me to think that i may have lost her so soon. Now that she moved a cherish even the little moments we get to talk on the phone...every second of life matters :)

Wow! That is very scary. I hope they did catch it all and I'm glad that you got that time to reflect on what she means to you, and that you've been able to build a better relationship - rather than lose her too soon. Life seems to fly by faster and faster, the older I get. I'll be 33 this November and I can't believe it's almost Halloween again! Feels like it was just hear. Cherish every day and try to make the most out of time with your family and friends. I had my two oldest boys (who are now 13 and 11) very young and the two of them wore me out. I couldn't wait for them to be out of diapers, feeding themselves, being able to stay home by themselves so running to the store wasn't a huge production - in and out of carseats, throwing fits for candy on line). Now I have a 4 year old also and I appreciate the time that he needs me for everything so much more than I did the first tiem around. The time flies, and then one day you wake up and your kids would rather hang with their friends and talk on the phone, rather than hang out with their mom. Every morning I wake them up and make them breakfast, even tho some mornings they really don't want it. I don't have much time left before they are gone and living their own lives. Now I cherish everything about being a mother, instead of getting frustrated that I have NO time for myself. Someday, I'll have all the time in the world for myself and I'm not looking forward to it - but that's the way it goes.

When she was in the nursing home recovering from surgery she had her hair cut and gave it to Locks of Love, I was about 4 months pregnant with my 2nd child. I found a place where they cut my hair for free and sent it to Locks of Love for me so I could support her with her decision. Short hair was never an ok thing for my mom lol. I am so there with the 2 kids at a young age and the store being a hassle but I do agree, we need to try and cherish all these little moments because time will fly way too fast and they will want nothing to do with me. I try to always look on the positive side...not always an easy task though.

Great job Kristy on going to work out and the loose pants. I hope you enjoy your day with your mom. You will do fine with your food choices I'm sure :)

I feel you guys on valueing every moment we have with our mom's. I also had a couple rough years with my mom in my late teens and early 20's. But look at us now and you wouldn't have a clue. We are best friends. I talk to her about EVERYTHING! I don't know what it is like to be a mom but I know what it is to love a mom more than imaginable. So don't forget mom's...We Love YOU! Kristy, you are starting to freak me out on some things. I will be 33 in June. I didn't realize we were less than a year apart. I thought you were several years younger than me.

What sweet sentiments about your moms, brought tears to my eyes. I have two wonderful daughters, and just like all of you, we had some rough times through the teenage years. They had to find their way into adulthood. We are very close, and so with the grandchildren. Since the first one was born we have a tradition that Christmas Eve is always here. We also have them decorate the tree in the beginning of December. It's a big fun party. The oldest grandchild is now 21, the youngest 14. They still enjoy the traditions. The oldest is getting married Dec. 23rd, but they want to be here for Christmas and then go on their honeymoon. The family has always included later on their friends and people from church who would be alone otherwise. We hope to be able to continue this for many more years. Faith and family is so important. Hold onto each other, the world out there can be harsh. <><

Gigi - That sounds wonderful. I hope to have my family close year after year. My future daughters in law will all have to accept that Christmas Eve is at my house... Of course their parents are more than welcome to come along. The more the merrier. (HUGS)

I think this year I will have my boyfriend and his family at my place :) I really hope my Mom is able to come or else I have to do the baking and cooking without her :( I have been doing the food preparations for years but always with her guidance. Now this being my first low carb year I could really use her help...also she just found out she is diabetic so she needs to change her WOE as well so it would be good for her to be with me for a while...

That sounds like a plan, Missy. You and her could help eachother and enjoy the time together doing it.
