SasquatchActual's Journal, 12 Jun 24

On April 30, 2024. I was at work wondering which fast food establishment I should buy lunch from after I pick up my nicotine at the gas station. Then a thought popped into my head, how much money am I spending a month to kill myself slowly? I started to get a little pudgy after leaving the military and tobacco definitely had a hold of me. Money is always a consideration as well, so why waste it to hurt yourself.

So right then and there I decided. No more nicotine, and I’m getting back to my “fighting weight” of 165. Not a huge undertaking being that I was 178 that day, but nonetheless, time to loose the gut.

Well, boy did I underestimate my addiction to nicotine. Going cold turkey was tough, but I haven’t touched nicotine/tobacco since that day. I did however replace it with food. I went from 178 to 187.2 within a month. So my initial goal of losing 13lbs turned into 22.2. Once I peaked in weight (May 30th) my desire for nicotine was essentially broken so it was time to focus on the weight side of it. Since May 30th I have been consistently loosing weight daily and am almost back to my starting weight. Expect to be there within the next two days. No stopping till I hit the goal.

That’s my boring story, thanks for reading it.
I know everyone has different circumstances, goals, hurdles, etc. but good luck to everyone on achieving their goals.

As Mr. Hanes says, Keep Hammering

That's awesome and great job! I know how hard that is to do! When I first started my weight loss journey I was 311 lbs and going through a can of skoal about every 2 days. I ended up losing 131 lbs in total and today I'm 1,720 days removed from dipping tobacco. Most people thought I was crazy losing weight and going cold turkey on the skoal. But it all worked out the way it should. Thanks for sharing your experiences! Good fortune to you moving forward.
