Really makes you think, I'd never imagined an 80 year old farmer would be going to the gym. So if this guy with a physical job and at that age needs focused work outs, so do I. Thanks for posting that.

I didn't start going to the gym regularly until I hit 70. Makes an enormous difference in how strong and flexible my body is. Wish I had made this a habit 40 years ago!

Thankful my own parents (my Dad turns 80 later this month) are still active . . . that regular activity I'm certain has extended my Dad's lifespan who had bypass surgery in the late 90's . . . he's been motivated ever since to be healthy/active so he could enjoy his grandkids (my niece and nephew) for as long as he can!!

And, what is with the chocolate cake? Are you trying to put evil thoughts into my head?

Great story - now please get rid of that chocolate cake!

Great story - I agree with him! Eat less, move more. Simple, isn't it?

I have to agree with his strategy of portion control & exercise. To become thin, one must behave thin. Thanks for sharing his strategy.

Nice story Nichol. Reminds us to not ever stop taking care of ourselves and not to use age as an excuse to slow down and not do things.

Last night on extreme weight loss they had the oldest body builder, a lady who was 80 at the time of filming if I'm remembering right. Didn't start body building until she was in her late 60's or early 70's, she looked great.

For me it sums up the whole struggle. This is why I do it, to be the best healthiest person I can be, as long as possible. The rest is all packaging and won't make a damn bit of difference when I am 80.

Nich - the better we take care of ourselves the longer our packaging will look it's best! :)

JMB -- Was the bodybuilder an African American from Baltimore (or somewhere in MD)? I saw a 'viral video' recently of "a day in the life of . . ." this amazing woman making the rounds on social media . . . she may be 80, but she LOOKS 50!!
