It is finished! DUN DUN DUNNNN!!!

I ran, and finished, my first half marathon (13.1 miles) this weekend. WOOHOO! I finished in 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 25 seconds.

I would have done this journal earlier, but my legs hurt so bad I couldn't move and I was still waiting for family to send me the pics. The professional pics should be done sometime this week so I'll post those later on.

I'm taking this week off from diet and exercise to give myself some rest. It's been about 4 months since I took a break so it's time to be lazy... at least for a little while. I'll try to stay out of the pizza and ice cream, but no promises.

The half marathon was awesome, but I'm not going to lie... it hurt like hell. I made a rookie mistake and started out way too fast. I planned on running 11 minute miles for the race, but started out faster than 10 minute mile pace. About halfway through I started to fade and basically had to switch to 12 minute miles for the last half of the race. My legs were killing me by the time I finished. The last mile felt like 5, and the race directors pulled a cruel joke on the runners... the finish was a steep uphill. ARGH! I crossed the finish line, got my finisher medal, and wobbled around so I could get a bottle of water and pass out in the grass. Good times.

randomness... RACE PICS!

This is at mile 11.

And this is after the finish, right before I decided standing was overrated and laid down in the grass. I don't think I've ever gone through so much pain to get a cheap medal in my life... but I'll probably do it again. ;)

Great and awesome job-you look completely in command at mile 11. I have seen some SHOCKING states by then-you look positively serene. Now the pic with the bottle before you reposed on the grass is more like it! CONGRATULATIONS!

Yeah, I think "I'm a ninja that runs marathons" takes the cake. Or, uhh, the acai berry smoothie? Now if you can just pick up a charitable sponsor... you'll be pretty much an unstoppable force.
