BlackButterfly615's Journal, 22 Aug 09

I've been away awhile, trying to set my life back to "right side up" status. My son is home, he has been for about three weeks now, and is looking forward to going back to school. The first day of school is Monday here, and he's ready to "prove himself". We've moved to a bigger, better apartment complex (I've got a FIREPLACE! I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, so for me, that's a really neat new toy. My mother says that when she and my dad moved to their place in Orlando with the fireplace, they turned the ac down really low, made it really cold, and then lit a fire. I told her it's too close to September to go through all of that, but I can't wait. Oh, by the way, my mother and I are speaking again, and she's so proud of the weight that I've lost, and is complaining about the weight she's gained. For the first time since middle school, I wear a smaller size than my mama! LOL. I'm now a 6 and she's a nine. Don't tell her I told yall! LOL! She's been a 4 to 6 all my life, so she's NOT HAPPY! I told her to box all of her clothes and send them to me, because I can't fit any of my clothes anymore. Even my "tight" jeans and shorts are baggy.....that's NOT CUTE!

Good to hear that your doing so well and how cool is that your now wear a smaller size than your mom. I'm happy to see y'all getting along to and tell your son to fly the straight and narrow or else lol. Glad to you checking in and soon you might have to put a new profile pic. That Mel B body might be within your reach :)

Thanks, Splendid! I really do need to put up a new picture. Every year on the first day of school, I take pics of the kids, so I guess I'll have to take a picture of myself as well (minus the eye patch!). As far as my son is concerned, he's doing well, although he did try to test the limits after about a week, he's under my thumb for the most part. I had to remind myself that the rules are the rules, and I've made them for his own good. Not only that, If I'M not constant, then HE'LL grow up to be all over the place.I've even had to get in his face a couple of time about his attitude, but at the end of the day, TRUST me, he knows what time it is. He's all ready to go back to school tomorrow, so we'll see if he really meant it when he said he was "done acting stupid" when he gets back in school.

Hey thanks for the tip on the jogtracker app. I went out walking tonight and used both the jogtracker and the cardio trainer app and the way the jogtracker tracks your movements in uncanny. It was almost like a an NSA sattlelite was tracking me and with the cardio trainer talking and keeping up with my pace, its like the ultimate app for walking or jogging. Thanks again and I really hope your son follows through on changing his behavior cause they're too many young, HS dropout, loudmouths that squander their oppourtunities to become productive young people and can't fend for themselves let alone get a job.. Our kids have to realize the margin of error is getting thinner and thinner and there needs to be an urgency to do well and prepare for the future while they're still in school. I wish you and your son the best.
